Meal ideas in the first trimester

Please can anyone suggest ideas for healthy meals they were able to eat in the first trimester? I realise everyone is different, but I am constantly nauseous and mainly getting by on bananas, toast, scrambled eggs and chicken nuggets! I would like to keep up with some balanced evening meals as I have a toddler to cook for, who is also recovering from illness. Thank you!

Oh god I so feel you! I was horrendously nauseous until 15 weeks. I used to have scrambled eggs on brown bread in the morning, then a chickpea salad: lettuce, cherry tomatoes, chickpeas, onion, etc drizzled with a bit of lemon juice to help absorb the iron (I was determined not to take extra iron supplements because I knew I’d be backed up all pregnancy and it worked my hemoglobin levels were brilliant throughout), usually something sweet and carb filled at about 3pm then at dinner usually chicken breast with a jacket potato and some kind of veg (broccoli, asparagus etc) Sometimes I’d make mini ‘pizzas’ with an open fajita wrap and put mozzarella cheese, ham, mushrooms and in the oven quick & easy.
I had to have high carbs with most meals to help curb the nausea but I tried to choose healthier carbs, not crisps or chips etc.

Just out of this now and wishing you a speedy return to normality. I lived off of warm croissants (frozen packs) with cheese and spinach for a while, if I could handle it. And some apple slices with peanut butter.

But if you find something that works don't worry if you eat that for two weeks straight. Anything is better than nothing.

Literally just whatever you can stomach.

Second time around, when I had a toddler, most of my dinners involved a combination of omelette, cheese, potato and baked beans. Maybe a bit of iceberg lettuce as it was the ONLY vegetable I could eat for about 2 months.
Toddler and her dad ate a normal meal. She was young enough not to question why I was eating something different to her, or why I basically ate the same food all the time all of a sudden.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

That sounds more balanced than the times I lived off rich tea biscuits and sickness meds 😂
I found that fairly large amounts of lemon juice and a certain amount of chilli added to things made them more edible. Also rice was more edible than other carbs.

My best one was microwave fish pie! Just bland and comforting.
Also chippy chips.
Really though just eat what you can manage, you can worry about having healthier meals again when the nausea has passed

my lovely granny in law made me lots of bone broths…I used the chicken one to make my super noodles!
i ate what I could stomach, which wasn’t much but the bone broth helped. I kept stocked up on fruit and veg I could eat raw too.

Stay away from ginger biscuits or you'll put on loads of weight. Eating orange segments and sipping on orange juice helped quell the nausea. Bland food helped, such as pasta. Marmalade on toast was also nice.

Just shows how everyone is different...I was finding orange juice was bringing on nausea! 🤢
