Bleeding after sex early pregnancy.

Hi currently 7+3. I had an early scan last week following bleeding post sex, heart beat seen at this time. Me and my partner just had sex and I have bled again, the last time it was spotting but this time was fully red. I’ve called Epu and been advised to monitor. The bleeding has now stopped and none on the pad. I’m just so anxious I feel like this is the end.

Fingers crossed it's just something irritating your cervix. I would switch to non-penetrative forms of sex for a while though, it's hardly worth the stress.

It’s really stressful, yes will be totally abstaining now

Could be a cervical ectropion, basically where some cervix lining grows on the outside of your cervix. It's harmless but can cause irritation, especially during pregnancy with all the extra blood flow and general sensitivity. I had some spotting in early pregnancy because of this.

Yes, I did have a really big bleed with lots of big clots at 12 weeks but I was whipped in quick for a scan and the baby was fine, it took about 5-6 weeks to properly stop, turned from red to brown to black blood which was old blood at that stage. My baby is 17 now 😁 and the obstetrician said it happens sometimes

This also happened to me and I was terrified. I later found out that it’s completely normal and it’s the cervix which is changing and is more sensitive and it can bleed if it’s ‘bothered’ too much. Unless your Dr says not to have sex, you can carry on if you feel comfortable but maybe a little more gentle and a less invasive position so it’s not being knocked so much. I had bright red spots of blood at 11w after intercourse, got checked and it was cervical ectropion, all was totally fine with the baby and they told me it was nothing to worry about. It didn't happen every time just the odd time.

I’m currently going through something similar, I went for a private scan last week at 10+2 because of it and baby was fine, however the same thing has happened today after intimacy and now I’m panicking. I’ve got my 12 week scans before on Wednesday I don’t know if I can hold out or not

@Notsure31so sorry you are going through this also. How heavy is the bleeding? Mines completely stopped after half an hour. I’m still not thinking it’s good news though. My next scan isn’t until the 28th. The nurse at maternity triage said Epu will call back Monday so I’m in limbo until then. Is this your first pregnancy?

I had a fair bit of bleeding throughout my 2nd & 3rd pregnancies.
There can be many causes, its a lot more common than people realise, always get it checked which you have done and try not to worry x

I bled a lot after sexual activity. We stopped straight away until I had the baby. It was lots of fluid and blood I actually thought it was going to be a loss. I was actually told it was at hospital then found out couple days later at the scan it was not and I was still pregnant.

Yeah I was around 12 weeks too when it happened.

I have a scan on Wednesday. Since the main bleed I’ve been spotting after a bowel movement 2, praying it’s a cervical thing. I’ll update after my scan.
