6 weeks Pregnant, but no Heartbeat

Hi everybody.

I am currently about 6 weeks Pregnant(according to a scan I had today anyway), but my last period was on the 15th August-so I should be around 9 weeks.

I had a scan done a couple weeks ago due to some pains and light spotting, and it showed the sac but with no Baby visible.

Mesaured about 5 weeks then and had scan today what showed double the growth and Baby seen, but no Heartbeat visible.

They said I was around 6 weeks today.

Got to have another scan next week, which will should be around 7 weeks Pregnant then.

Had 2 previous miscarriages, so worried it's happening again.

Anybody had previous experiences and it turned out okay?

When did you get a positive test?

When did you get a positive test?

11th September.

If you ovulated much later than usual AND got a positive at only 7ish days then you could be six weeks pregnant, but it’s probably unlikely unfortunately. Are they private or NHS scans? Can you ask for blood tests?

ToKittyornottoKitty · 16/10/2025 18:35

I’d prepare for the worst unfortunately, even if you got a very early positive and were only 3 weeks at the time you’d still be 8 weeks now. Really sorry OP

Pregnancies aren’t dated like that, she’d still be classed as 8 weeks as even when they scan they add the extra 2 weeks on pre conception

DownWhichOfLate · 16/10/2025 18:55

@ToKittyornottoKitty - I know how pregnancies are dated. I’m saying that for the foetus to be so small, and from the timing of her positive test, the only way it would add up would be to have ovulated very late and tested positive very early.

I did read what you said, but for her to be 6 weeks pregnant, she would have conceived 4 weeks ago, which is a week AFTER she got the positive pregnancy test.

I feel such empathy for you OP. I’m 8 weeks today by LMP but had a scan last week that showed me as much earlier. Still have another week to wait for my follow up scan. The waiting feels nearly impossible but there is literally nothing else to do… Sending hopeful vibes your way xx

Clawson316 · 16/10/2025 21:05

I did a digital on the 13th September and it said 1-2 weeks.

19 days after that I had a scan and it said about 5 weeks.

2 weeks later(Today) they said I was around 6 weeks.

This is just hell to be honest.

The earliest you could be with a positive test on 11/09 is 8 weeks. That’s even allowing for a positive test at 7dpo. A weeks growth in 2 weeks also doesn’t sound great unfortunately. I know how horrible miscarriages/missed miscarriages are as I’ve had a few myself. So while no one can tell you for definite how it will turn out I would just prepare myself for the worst if I was you.

StrawberryPi · 21/10/2025 12:46

@Clawson316 how are you getting on? I still have two days til my follow up scan and just willing it to come faster now. I oscillate between feeling positive and optimistic and hopeless and weepy. My nausea and sore boobs still feel super strong which is both comforting and maddening. Hope you are coping ok xx

I have the scan on Thursday. I am pretty certain that it's going to be a loss, so just trying to prepare for the worse. I still have all the Pregnancy symptoms like yourself really, but I know you can have something called a missed miscarriage and still feel all the symptoms for a while. All the best for your scan and fingers crossed it's positive news for both of us x

Yes mine is Thursday too. I'm so sorry that you are in this position too, but it is comforting to have some companions on this horrible journey. Everything crossed for your scan too x

It's really really heartbreaking, but I guess it's better it happens now than later down the road. The pain is still immense, but it's even worse when the Baby is a lot further along. That happened with my last Pregnancy.

My Partner is still very optimistic, so I am trying to hold onto his positivity. I hope you have similar support around you x

Yes, mine is also feeling more positive than me, though I think partly he is holding strong to look after me as he does seem to crack occasionally and let the emotion out. At lest by this time on Thursday we'll know....

ellie1878 · 21/10/2025 17:47

@StrawberryPi@Clawson316hi, sorry to jump in on this but I am in exactly same position and have my scan Thursday after a 2 week wait. Went in 2 weeks ago with what I thought was a 9 week pregnancy to be told the size of the sac doesn’t add up. I explained my dates could be wrong as I didn’t track ovulation so hoping for a positive outcome also 🤞🏼 for background, took me 18 months to conceive my first 4 years ago, some periods 100 days apart!! This time, come off pill end of May, positive test in September after 2 non regular periods and a holiday in between. All I see online is negative outcomes, but I suppose the people with positives don’t necessarily need to use threads like this 😞 Sending love ❤️

StrawberryPi · 22/10/2025 18:14

@ellie1878good luck for tomorrow xxx

StrawberryPi · 23/10/2025 14:25

No luck for me this time. Onwards and upwards.

And to you, I’m so sorry xxx

Timeforabitofpeace · 23/10/2025 21:20

Im so sorry, both of you. That’s a very difficult thing to happen. I’ve experienced the exact same thing myself. My pregnancy with dd dated from the period after the miscarriage, though.

ellie1878 · 24/10/2025 09:10

What a horrible day all around. Sadly no more growth my end and sac still empty. Booked in for D&C next Weds 😞 xx

StrawberryPi · 24/10/2025 13:07

So sorry for all of you, what a shitty day.

Mine had grown somewhat on ultrasound, but sowed no foetal development. They also said there seemed to be lots of sacs and it all looked a bit odd. They’re wondering if it might be a molar or partial molar pregnancy so I have to wait yet ANOTHER week even though I know it’s hopeless, to have bloods and another scan so they can decide how best to manage it.

Hey, same case on my side 6 weeks not detected heartbeat, doctor said perhaps
