Hi all,

on the off chance with this one…
I'm currently 38 weeks today and awaiting a date for my elective c section which the consultant said he has requested for 39 weeks.
whilst yes they have said, I will ‘should’ get a date 7-10 days before…but at busy times be 24-48 hours.

my question is, those that have had electives recently at the Rosie hospital… how far in advance did you get given a date?

thanks all x

Don’t know ur hospital but let me just say at mine we have been absolutely been wiped out with emergencies and the electives are getting pushed back as we needs the beds and midwives. My operating theatre has not stopped day and nights and what used to be just September our busiest month (Xmas and ny babies) it is still following into October. It’s really crazy just now. You will get your date soon, they will have u in the diary but be prepared it might be a little later than u expected. Best wishes for you all x

Watching as I expect to be in this position in a few weeks time. I feel like this new policy will be causing a lot of anxiety (when I say new I’m not sure how new but it was different when I had my first in 2022 and got a date much earlier).

I got mine at 37+2 (I think) for 39+1, though this is some time ago. However it may depend on how essential it is for you to have a c-section. I was admitted at 37+5 in case I went into labour, as it would likely have killed DD. It was thankfully dull 10 days, and DD was born safely.

Thank you all for your comments. Glad I’m not the only one. I know if I was to go into ‘labour’ I wouldn’t get given a date. But like a PP said when I had a previous C-section I was given like a months notice I’m sure. So this is stressing me out. Another week gone by and still don’t know the date. Keeping fingers crossed Monday I’ll hear something x

Hope everything went well with your section and you are enjoying all the newborn cuddles.
Thanks for the update! Seems like such short notice. How close to 39 weeks were you on the Thursday?

Just to say I was high risk so was told elective c section the entire time and that I’d be given 10 days notice.
i got 15hrs notice in the end! Totally unfair and unnecessary to tell a woman something which isn’t true.

That’s shocking. Was that at the Rosie Hospital?

Thank you lovely. I’d love to just bottle the smell up of a newborn 💗 I was 39+1 when I went in for my section. Hope all goes well with yours x
