IVF embryo transfer - 10dp5dt

I’ve just got a negative 10 days post 5 day embryo transfer. I’m not surprised as I haven’t had any symptoms. My clinic said to carry on my meds until official test day on day 14 but I don’t see the point. Has anyone ever got a negative on day 10, and then a positive on day 14? Or should I trust my gut and admit it’s not going to change..

I would keep going with meds. It might well be negative, but why on earth wouldn’t you see it through to the end. What a waste of time, money and emotion to give up early.
Speaking as someone who has never had a day of morning sickness or sore boobs in my life despite healthy pregnancies.

JuniperandI · 11/10/2025 17:26

That's really disappointing. I can understand the temptation to stop the meds but I'd keep going - what's 4 more days?

LolaBumble · 13/10/2025 08:22

Easy to say keep going but with my failed FET I stopped my meds a few days early. Maybe only a few days, but total torture and I felt much better once I just let my period start x

What do the meds do?

What do the meds do?

Keep the lining there / help to stop miscarriage. But if the embryo hasn’t implanted there is no point x

You’d be mad not to carry on. Lots of people don’t have any symptoms in early pregnancy. Keep going! And best of luck.

Why on earth would you stop those early??!!

You can’t tell if anything hasn’t or won’t have implanted. It can take 2-3 days for HCG to register. You’re over half a week away from your test day even. Are you sure you even want to fall pregnant?

I wasn’t, I got two negative tests on day 11. Official test day is day 14. No way it would change in that time frame unfortunately x

Yes, I had what I was convinced was PMS, got a negative test result (tested early), got really upset, drank some wine, the result is a now five year old!

Well I guess if you know better than the fertility doctors yeah, just bin them. It’s them you should be asking this question to, but seeing as you’re so sure it would be impossible I’m not sure why you asked the question in the first place? Just seems so tactless when there are so many people who will never get the chance to try IVF, to see someone so blase about it.

I’ve been doing IVF for 2 years, I’ve had 3 miscarriages and now a failed transfer. Trust me there is nothing blase about it, I’m completely heartbroken. I just wanted to stop the meds of this failed cycle so I can have a period and start the next cycle asap. I’m sorry if that came across wrong x

I finished the medication just to prove to myself I had done everything I could

Stop being an internet bully and leave OP alone. There’s just absolutely no need for it on a sensitive thread like this.

Sorry it hasn’t worked OP, I don’t blame you for stopping meds early.

Agreed 100%

BusyBeatle · 13/10/2025 21:28

I totally understand where you are coming from OP. I went through 4 cycles before having my first and I always stuck to the protocol. I would always hope that the blood test would pick up something a urine test couldn’t. Keep going just in case since a PP 5 year old to show for it (amazing!) but mentally prepare yourself for bad news as well.

zan79 · 14/10/2025 15:32

Having gone through 3 rounds of failed ivf, I feel your pain and frustration.
Did you do a urine test? If so, you may not have enough hcg for it to detect. 4 days can make a huge difference as hcg doubles every 48 hours. The best way to know is from a blood test (well 2 actually, 48 hrs apart), but I know that is harder to arrange in the uk, but maybe ask your fertility consultant.
Good luck

IVF'er here. 5 frosties, 4 failed, 1 remaining. Either implantation failure or missed-miscarriage resulting from collapsed sac. Currently 18 weeks into a natural pregnancy. The last embryo will be put back when we're ready.

I know the heartbreak all too well. Stay on the medications, as stupid as it might seem, they are keeping everything in place until you have your test and a pregnancy can either be confirmed or denied.

I'll pray for you. A hug and a hand hold from me 💐
