Bfp 5 weeks after miscarriage? Now bleeding

I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks, on 02/09. I had some spotting on 24/09 which I thought was my period, but it only lasted a few hours. Today, I thought I'd do a test as haven't had a period yet, I got a strong bfp but as I went to wipe I'm bleeding fresh red blood. I'm very worried, and unsure whether this is a new pregnancy or leftover hcg causing the test to be positive. I've managed to get a scan at EPU tomorrow but really would like to hear any success (or not so happy) experiences in the meantime to prepare myself.

So sorry for what you've been through. You shouldn't be testing positive that long after a miscarriage, so I'd say this is a new pregnancy but at the moment I wouldn't say it's looking good for this one either 😢 really hope you get lucky and it is all fine but I'd assume the worst and anything else is a positive.
