GTT test because babies too big

Got told today at my growth scan (I’m 32 weeks and first baby) that I need to have a GTT test next week because baby is measuring too big. They didn’t tell me much more so I’m just left feeling worried and clueless between now and then. I have the GTT test next week then another growth scan in 4 weeks time. She mentioned I may have to be induced early or a c-section may be the best method of birth incase he gets stuck trying to birth naturally.
I just feel like now I’m sat in limbo worried about what I can even eat or drink because I’ve been told nothing and I have the guilt like Im not doing good enough

Try not to worry! I was told the same, had my GTT last week and passed it, some babies are just big! And even if you do have GD you can then control with diet & meds x

I also had to do the test as I was measuring very big for my dates. Turns out it was a lot of water weight as he was my smallest baby.
If it does turn out to be GD you can take meds and it should go again after the birth.

Your baby isn’t too big, just potentially bigger than expected for your dates and if you do have GD then it needs to be managed.

One of my babies was off the centile charts and I had to have the GTT. I passed and the baby was born at 6lbs 10oz. The scans aren’t always right.

Scans have a margin of error, so don’t worry too much. I had to have GTT because my sister had GD and I was fine.

Thank you everyone, I just don’t think it helped as I didn’t get told much other than “he’s too big” for 32 weeks and that I’ll be needing a gtt test next week and then she sent me on my way so I’ve just been over thinking ever since my appointment earlier thinking is it something I’ve done wrong, is everything going to be okay, what complications could happen etc and just overall given me a lot of anxiety 😖

I’m on my 3rd baby and have had the GTT with all pregnancies due to baby measuring big each time. I’ve not had GD with any. #1 was 8lb11 #2 was 10lb. #3 TBC. Both 1 and 2 were natural vaginal deliveries and number 2 was with only gas and air. I’m also not a giant person, 164cm tall, slightly high BMI. It’s hard not to be anxious about size, I am again with this baby, but keep telling myself what my midwife tells me…that I just grow large but healthy babies.

Oh wow! Well done to you!! With this being my first I’m just so new to it all so being told that the other day and then told to come back next week for the GTT test had just left me over thinking! I’m 5ft 2 and I weighed around 9 stone when I found out I was pregnant and I’m now 12 stone which I know a-lot of that will be baby weight/placenta/water and also gone up 4 cup sizes in my bra so I know my boobs are heavy I’m in a cup L now 😖
I also don’t feel like my bump is overly big for 32 weeks I feel like it’s fairly “average” for first time pregnancy I’m just carrying quite low but if I put a jumper on or baggy to shirt you wouldn’t even tell i had a bump if that makes sense x

I was measuring big and had the GTT twice (!) but I didn't have diabetes. There was also some chat about inducing early as he was so big (measuring 97th percentile at one point) but I read up about it and decided that the evidence around early induction wasn't very compelling. The growth slowed down a bit and he was measuring 88th percentile by my last scan (at 38 weeks) so doctor was happy for me to just let him come when he came, which turned out to be at 41 weeks. In the end baby was 8lb 11 so big but not enormous. Some people just have big babies 🤷‍♀️
