Hi,

I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby

In my first pregnancy I developed the ICP late in my pregnancy but I never got it in my 2nd pregnancy

This week ive been having mild itching all over so I got my bloods taken and the results says 12 which is normal range so ive been Googling and apparently it should be under 10 so now im not too sure if it is normal result or not

I've had the bloods not a week ago and im unsure what to do next due to itching getting a bit more intense, i don't wanna ring the midwifes up incase they think im over thinking and I think they don't know their jobs

Would you say 12 is considered high?

Any advice would be helpful

Thank you ☺️

I don't think 12 wouldn't be considered high, I had icp in my last pregnancy and severe icp was classed as above 100 moderate above 30 and I think it was above 15 for mild.
If you are itchy though you should be getting regular tests however as it can take weeks for bile acids to be off in blood tests. I was having weekly blood tests when my levels were stable and every 3 days when they were high. I'd probably ask for my levels to be checked every 1-2 weeks in your situation
I had UDCA /urso prescribed to help with the itching and to reduce the impact on my liver as my ALTs were very high and getting worse with each test but a lot of drs don't like to prescribe it now. I was put on it by my consultant but when I was seen in triage a few days later the registrar told me it was pointless taking it. It did help with the itching though and my liver function improved for a while whilst taking it.
