So sensitive

This is mainly just because I think it’s interesting!

I’ve always enjoyed (most) horror movies! And generally spooky stuff! However since being pregnant (16 and 2) I can’t watch anything scary at all. Even some crime thriller shows etc.. I have to turn off! It’s not a concern I am just intrigued by the sudden change?

What is the reason clever people? I am assuming hormones have made me more sensitive and possibly an innate desire to protect baby etc..

or does anyone have any similar stories of suddenly disliking or changing something while pregnant?

This is more obvious but we are binging on The Good Wife (legal drama) and I’ve found myself skipping any of the episodes involving baby cases, or deaths of main characters, etc. as I just don’t want to know. (Before I wouldn’t flinch at such things.) As I’ve got older (not just pregnancy) I’ve become a LOT more sensitive to graphic violence and even scary situations like falling/threat of falling from heights (this in particular gives me a strong physical reaction). I think I’d still be able to do a bit of horror on Halloween but really all I want to watch is comedy, cosy drama or the more silly types of murder mysteries like The Residence or Glass Onion.

I used to love a good scary movie as teen. Couldn't do ot once I hit my 20s
Used to love a good thriller drama but even those i couldn't do once I had a child.
Now I've had my third I can't even do sad adverts about children (not even anything horrible, just children upset, but absolutely no to any in pain or ill or portrayed as such in tv) or animals.
Can't even stand listening to babies cry in general without the mama hormones kicking in.
Our brains literally rewire for our kids so I imagine it has a lot to do with that
