So worried about undercooked chicken

I just found out today I am 4 weeks pregnant from IVF and I cooked Sainsbury’s classic chicken steaks tonight in the airfryer. I did a minute longer than packet said and looked and tasted great and then got paranoid halfway through that the meat didn’t look white white and am now FREAKING OUT that it will make me ill and cause the pregnancy damage. Can anyone give any advice?? 🥺🥺

At worse you'll have vomiting and diarrhoea. It won't harm your pregnancy. But it sounds like you nuked it anyway so no need to worry.

You will be fine OP. But to stop you feeling this way in the future buy a probe thermometer and probe your chicken or any high risk foods you cook to ensure it is 75oC and then you need never worry again.

Chicken steaks can look off colour because of the bread crumbs/coating. If you could them their time plus a minute they will be fine

Seek help for your health anxiety.

You'll be fine.
Just get a meat thermometer if you're worried about whether things are cooked or not. Bonus, it stops you overcooking it too

You would know if it was raw as opposed to not perfectly white. You and your baby will be fine. And ignore the comment about health anxiety, I think all of us overthink things more than usual when pregnant!

Hi OP. I had the exact same worry the other evening but I didn’t have any diarrhea nor felt unwell so things are probably ok! Please ignore the comment about health anxiety. You are not alone, I overthink too, all the time! Xx

I agree with the suggestion to get a meat thermometer to check if food is cooked. I was shocked at how often I over cooked things without it, I positively nuked sausages! I now use mine all the time both in the air fryer and in the oven.

I was served undercooked chicken in a restaurant when I was pregnant. I'd eaten quite a bit of it as the outside was fine but the inside was quite pink and took me a while to notice. This was in my 3rd trimester. My 6 week old baby (also IVF) is completely fine and healthy 😊
