Second trimester - cervical ectropion

I am 15 weeks pregnant. Over the weekend I had two big bleeds which the gynae has confirmed were caused by a large cervical ectropion. She also advised that it's common and could last the entire pregnancy! I am now scared to sneeze, cough, laugh or exercise.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so, any tips for managing it? I want to avoid having to regularly go to hospital as I am also rhesus negative and have a DS to look after. Thank you.

Hello!

I was diagnosed with this during my last pregnancy (6 years ago). I had lots of bleeds throughout the pregnancy, I even remember having an internal examination and bleeding so much with clots afterwards - however baby was always safe and sound and it was literally a ‘me’ problem rather than anything to do with him.

i avoided sex, and was hesitant before any internal scans/checks etc.

Hey, I had red bleeds from this at 11w and again at 18 but they said it was just spontaneous and they didn't tell me to avoid anything or take any extra care. Still went to full term and all was well.

Thank you for sharing your experiences @Boymum93 and @AmberBeaker. It is reassuring to know I'm not on my own though I am sorry that you both experienced it too! The gynae said the same that it won't affect the baby at all, just me and that unfortunately I will need to go into hospital after any bleed for an anti-D injection.

I feel a bit neurotic atm as I'm so nervous about doing anything that may strain the area and cause another bleed. Hoping I'll become less so as time goes on as I feel quite sorry for my son and partner who is picking up the parenting slack while I rest.
