6 week scan - is measurements ok?

Hi, this is my IVF pregnancy. Due to my history of previous miscarriages (4), I was referred to EPU by my clinic. I also have severe chest pain (OHSS) and cramps that come & go.

I had a scan today where they dated me to 6w2d based on LMP. However the clinician said pregnancy is measuring only 4-5 weeks. So i have to go back in 2 weeks for another scan.

Measurements were -
GS - 12.1 mm
YS - 3.4 mm
CRL - 3.0 mm
And we also saw a flickering heartbeat.

When i met with EPU nurse she said it's too early to measure accurately. And that if they were to measure me tomorrow, it would be completely different. I am not sure if she said that to make me feel better or if that's actually true.

Did anyone have low measurements or were dated behind during early scan BUT had a successful pregnancy? It's a long two week wait. Not sure if I should book a private scan.

To me those measurements are fine for how far you are, especially seeing the heartbeat. It would not be there at 4-5 weeks, maybe she meant the baby itself was measuring 4-5 weeks which would correlate with 'pregnancy dates'?

I should be 6 weeks today based on transfer day.
The clinician said the pregnancy is measuring behind by 1-1.5 weeks.

If you look anywhere those measurements seem on track, so I dunno...

Is the IVF clinic not scanning you at some point? I thought most clinics did a viability scan at around 7 weeks?

Personally I think measuring that far behind when you are sure of the dates isn’t a good sign. But because it is hard to be accurate this early it doesn’t mean all is lost. It could all still be fine.

My IVF clinic is in Prague.
I was going to book a private scan at 7-8 weeks.
But then got severe chest pain. I have history of OHSS & early losses. So with a letter from clinic I called EPU & they suggested early scanning.

I also had IVF, when we had the first scan I was 7+3w and they dated the baby via measurements at 6w+2. There was a heartbeat and it all looked good, so they told me. I was worried, as you do, and assumed the worst. But in reality the measurements are minuscule, we’re talking millimeters here using an ultrasound to measure something that’s moving inside your moving body. By the 12w scan baby was pretty much on track again.
My baby is now a 4 month old, and is perfectly healthy. We all grow at different speeds, tomorrow baby will measure different from today. I know it’s hard especially after losses and the grueling journey of IVF, but try to enjoy each day that you are pregnant and handle what comes when/if it does. Sending lots of positive vibes for a healthy pregnancy 💕

I had a 6 week and one day scan as I had been bleeding a bit. I conceived on one specific night and I know this 100% as it was the only night I had sex.
They dated the pregnancy differently even though it was physically impossible. We also saw a heartbeat which they said was good as they weren’t always possible to see at that many weeks old. They said it was a very good sign.
my DD is now 21 years old!
wishing you so much luck with your pregnancy.
