Buying Maternity Clothes in Town - (Chester)

Can anyone give me ideas of high street shops worth popping into for Maternity clothes.

I've just been round Chester and was very dissapointed to only find 3 shops with Maternity sections and they just had a couple of rails each, no chance of finding my size. Pah.

Or does everyone just shop online? I like to try things on as they often look so different on than they look in the pictures but I guess I'll just have to give it a try if I can't find anywhere local.

I'm afraid it's been about a decade since I last shopped in Chester, so can't advise specifically. However, just wanted to say that I asked in a Next recently and apparently they are only doing their maternity range online from now on - which is a bit annoying as their postage is quite expensive. Having said that, I've done most of my clothes shopping online as I hate shopping!

Worth having a look at Next, Topshop, Mothercare, Blooming Marvellous, possibly H&M and New Look, M&S - and I can thoroughly recommend these trousers from Next, which I intend to keep wearing for the rest of my life!

Hi,

I think there is a blooming marvellous in Chester- apologies if not.

There is a good place in Wilmslow "Love maternity" I think- on Water Lane. Bit pricey but some lovely stuff. Not Chester but in NorthWest!!

Hi Chestergal
Have you tried Cheshire Oaks - you may be able to get some normal wrap dresses etc in larger size if there are no maternity specialists there. BTW, Chester is positively littered with maternity shops compared to Shrewsbury!
Good luck on your quest.

Chester is pretty lame for maternity. H&M have stuff, it changes a lot so worth keep going in - this is where I got most things. Blooming Marvellous is good too (although no good to me as they don't seem to have any short length trousers on the rails!). The New Look on Foregate Street (the old New Look) stocks a few things, but not all that much. I actually got several non-maternity tops from New Look though that I'm still wearing - just loose, smocky style things.

Cheshire Oaks has Mamas and Papas which has a reasonable size maternity section, also a Pumpkin Patch.

So I have bought stuff online, or you might want to plan a day out in Liverpool in Manchester. My favourite jeans came from JoJoMamanBebe and I also got quite a few things on eBay.

Thanks guys, that's given me a few ideas.

I had no idea there was a Blooming Marvelous in Chester, maybe that explains why the main department stores don't bother having a decent range.

I go round Cheshire Oaks all the time but I guess when you're not pregnant you don't notice these sort of shops!
