This is probably one of the strangest things ever to possibly get and its been ongoing for maybe a week now.

At the bottom of my back and part of my bum cheek, i have a very strange sensation.

It started as itching at the bottom of my back and has now just stayed as a sensation, it does come and go.

The only way to describe it is it feels like ive been sat in a towel for like an hour and the fibers of the towel have imprinted on my skin giving you the sensation that you still have the towel on..

Weird i know...

If its not a fabric feeling, its as though something is crawling under my skin.

Im 32+4 and im getting VERY irritated by it.

I havent changed my washing powder or anything?

I have a midwife appointment on the 8th, if it persists i'll probably ask the question of what it could be, but im not too sure whether anyone on here may have an idea of what it is?

Have you experienced anything like this during pregnancy?

Is it normal or is my skin just trying to wind me up?

Weird, doesn't sound familiar to me after 3 pregnancies.
If it's more of a tingling feeling it could be sciatica which is common at this stage, nerves around the buttocks can tingle.
If it's more of an itch I would contact your GP or midwife as they take 3rd trimester itch fairly seriously because it can suggest liver issues (but not usually in the location you describe).

Wishing you well. I have a horrendously itchy scalp this pregnancy which seems like an uncommon symptom from what I've read and is driving me insane so I feel you.

Could it be nerve pain? The pregnancy putting pressure on your back & pelvis maybe?

Please message your midwife asap to get it on their radar. As a PP has said, itching can signal a liver issue (that can affect baby) which needs careful monitoring and specific blood tests to keep an eye on. Itching for ICP is generally hands and feet, but it can be anywhere.

Sounds like possible shingles. Contact your GP for advice.
