Bleeding but cervix currently closed?

I’m nearly 6 weeks pregnant but since Saturday I have been bleeding, mostly dark brown/ old blood. It was only when I wiped.

I called EPU and they told me to go in for an examination today. When they looked they said my cervix is still closed, that it did just seem like old blood perhaps from implantation, and at that current time they don’t believe I am miscarrying.

They booked me in for a scan for Wednesday.

But since I have been home I am now bleeding fresh red blood, and small tissue/ clots. I know this could be caused from irritation from the examination but I’m struggling to think positively.

I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks in June so I was (am still) expecting this to result in the same.

Has anyone else had similar and everything been ok? appreciate every pregnancy is so different and I don’t know what I expect from this post but my partner is away with work and I have no one to talk to about it as we haven’t told people this time for fear of having to tell them the bad news again so thought I would post on here

Hi
I had early pregnancy bleeding that was caused by cervical ectropion, it's a hormonal issue, no effect on baby. It was bright red spotting on wiping, it didn't have clots. But just wanted to share that there are different causes of bleeding. Hope you have a good outcome, early pregnancy is such an anxious time especially after loss. Best of luck

This doesn't sound good to me OP, I'm really sorry. There are stories of good outcomes from women with this type of bleeding, so don't give up hope completely, but at the same time I would also prepare yourself that it might not end well. Take care.

Hi OP,

I had the same as @AmberBeaker at 5 weeks which was brown and at 20 weeks which was bright red, lots of blood, clots etc and I had to be internally packed.

Baby was fine as it was my cervix that was bleeding. She's now 5.

If you have an ectroption they should have been able to see it when they checked your uterus. Is there anyone in your notes. Fingers crossed for you.

When I had it in early pregnancy they took a blood test 48 hours apart to check HCG was rising. Have the offered you that x

@AmberBeakerdid you also have period type cramps with it or no pain? I know it could be ‘normal’ but it’s so hard to think positively, especially after a previous loss. Thank you 🤍

@ReginaldaI had already fully prepared myself for it to not go well, just had more hope after my appointment at EPU today. Thank you for replying 🤍

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2gosh that sounds so worrying, I’m so glad everything was ok and you now safely have your little girl 🤍
they didn’t say they saw anything when checking my uterus, just that they could see the old discharge which they took a swab of. They didn’t check my bloods either which I wish I had asked for them to. I suppose I just have to wait it out and see what the scan says on Wednesday 😭 but with this new red blood I think I already know the outcome. Thank yin for your reply 🤍
