33 weeks pregnant - eaten off hummus

I’m usually so good with checking foods etc but did not check the lid of a hummus in the fridge. Ate quite a lot (mixed with sriracha) of the hummus then saw the date was 5 days ago. Have called my midwife she just said it’s done now and should be fine and to keep hydrated. Still feeling so so so anxious about my baby.

You’ll be fine, you’ve spoken to the midwife, what else are you expecting us to tell you different?

If anyone/or their baby has ever suffered with any food poisoning following this or something similar? And whether it effected the baby

It was in the fridge, it's a best before date not a "food poisoning after this date", and it tasted good enough for you to eat a lot of it. I'm going to say you'll be fine.

Thank you

Please don’t panic, I’m sure you’ll be fine. Like others said it’s a best before date not it’s going to be bad for you date. I had Norovirus at about 18 weeks pregnant and had violent sickness and 💩 I pulled all the muscles in my back and stomach from retching all night, I was terrified that I’d caused a miscarriage but the doctor was more worried about dehydration than anything else. Baby was absolutely fine, just perfect! The baby is protected inside you and at 33 weeks you’re nearly at the finish line 😊 just the finishing touches now! Put your feet up and relax, try to enjoy the last few weeks 💕

It's highly unlikely that your hummus is going to make you ill....and if it did, even less likely that it would impact baby. Your body prioritises nutrients for the baby. Of course there are some foods to avoid but you aren't as fragile as books might lead you to believe when you are pregnant.

Off hummus is vile, it’s almost fizzy as well as the off taste so you’d notice if it wasn’t ok
