So had my 20 weeks scan with my second baby, they said placenta was low lying and will check again at 32 weeks if it’s moved up. Never had the issue with my first baby. Anyone else had this but later it moved up? I had a normal delivery with my son

I had this at my 20 week scan. Placenta was low lying, not blocking my cervix but pretty close.
Im now 38 weeks and its now posterior and high so moved right out of the way.
Theres plenty of time for it to happen.

My now 14 year old had this, she was my first pregnancy.. It grew upwards and was fine at end of pregnancy..

I had this too- it had moved up by the time they checked at 30ish weeks (was sent for growth scan before the 32 week rescan). I think most do move so hopefully yours will too

90% of low lying placentas at 20 weeks are not low lying at 32 weeks. The lower segment of the uterus hasn’t formed yet. I wouldn’t worry about it.

A personal question guys, no one has said no sex as placenta is low lying would it be okay to go ahead and do the deed during this situation?

@Dreamymama I specifically asked the midwife this and they told me no sex. So we didn’t.

I had a bleed at around 26 weeks once. By 32 weeks it had moved up enough to not be an issue. Also for my second baby it was in a different location so didn’t cause any issues there.

It's not an abnormal thing don't worry about it

Oooo I didn't know this! My placenta was found to be low too at my scan a couple of weeks ago, DH has been on a work trip for the last fortnight but gets home tonight so I'd better call my midwife and check first Grin

Haha yeah I read online that if its really low then you shouldn’t have it until it’s moved but depends on the positions and some midwives say it’s okay some say it’s not lol
