6w5d no fetal pole

I had a scan today as had some spotting and the EPU asked me in for a scan. It was transvaginal. I know I’m 6w5d since last period but didn’t track ovulation that month.
They said they could see possibly two sacs but no fetal pole, and to go back in 7 days.
I’m obviously now anticipating the worst and assume the pregnancy is not viable but the nurse said it may be that it’s just a few days behind and it’s possible that next week we can see development. Has anyone had this experience before? What are my realistic chances of a happy outcome? Thanks 🙏

It really depends on your dates. If you were tracking ovulation and definitely sure of dates I’d say it wasn’t looking good. At nearly 7 weeks there should be a heartbeat and definitely a fetal pole. However because you didn’t track there’s always the possibility you ovulated later than a “standard” cycle. You could only be just over 5 weeks and in which case not seeing a fetal pole yet could be normal. Unfortunately there’s just no way to know until the rescan.

Thanks @JinnyAwesome. I’m not hopeful and prepared for the worst. What seems cruel is my symptoms have developed this week with nausea etc so in that sense it felt like things were progressing.
