Hi all,

Im 21 weeks so only half way but thinking ahead to birth because, why not!

has anyone given birth naturally if they have fibroids, specifically ones near the cervix?

I have 4 fibroids, two in the walls either side of my uterus, about 3cm, one at the top, about 4cm and one by my cervix that has grown from 4cm to 6.5cm between my 12 and 20 week scans.

they’ve said if I do give birth naturally I’ll have to have an injection to help me deliver the placenta.

I know there is a higher risk of pph with fibroids so just wondering if anyone had any experiences they’d like to share, good or bad?

many thanks,

Rx

I've also read that there's a higher risk of PPH, but do look up what the difference is so you can quantify how much higher it actually is. I wonder also if it depends very much on how big the fibroids are and what type, so actually an "all fibroids" risk factor is not very helpful.

Re the fibroid near your cervix, it just depends whether it moves out of the way enough by late pregnancy - they will likely scan you nearer the time to check it.
