Anyone else been told they need a very late growth scan?

MW, very nice/sensible, measured me this morning and said fundal height is 35cm, same as 10 days ago. I'm 38wks. She said she was being overcautious but a growth scan might be a good idea, and of course when she rang up, dep was fully booked for the next week.
To reassure me, she said if she was really worried, she would have made sure I got seen today, and f/h could be due to baby's head engaging, but I'm still not sure what the point of all of this is. It's a-freakin' me out (of course). has anyone been here before?
(DD was on the small side, and i'm getting lots of movement)

I had one. Ds turned out to be 9 2, two weeks early!

had a few for dd1 as they were concerned about her growth - heart defect that had been detected at 20 weeks. With dd2 also had scan at 36 weeks as they were concerned as to how big she might be as I wanted a VBAC and consultant wanted as much info as possible. Their estimates were not far out for dd2 - said 9lb - she was 9lb 7 oz.
WIth dd1 it was how they are able to ascertain that she had not grown in two weeks and that my placenta was incomptent - she was born the same day by emergency caesar....

If they were very worried you would be sent the same day and they would make room for you.

I just took each scan as a chance to see the babe again.

Good for you calling the midwife and getting it brought forward. Hope it all goes well

Hi everyone, this is my first post here!
I'm expecting DD1 in March and was told 2 weeks ago I'm "small for my dates". come back in 2 weeks and if you're still small we'll have to refer you for a scan. At that point I wasn't sure whether to worry or not and then what exactly to worry about!
I'd worked myself up into such a lather that I called my midwife the next morning and asked her straight - what does this mean? What's the worse case etc. She was very nice and said if there was anything to worry about she would be worried and that these measurements were very subjective.
2 weeks later, I was still small - 29cm at 32 weeks so an appointment was made to see the consultant. The consultant took one look at me and even before measuring said you look absolutely fine to me! She also came up with a measurement of 32cm at 32 weeks.
So the moral of the story is - it's all so subjective that it seems little to worry about but perhaps the medics are just keen to cover their backs in an age when everyone sues everyone else for the slightest thing. I'd also much rather they did things this way and picked up any problems than not bother to check at all!
