Growth scan? What happens next

I am 31 weeks pregnant and had a growth scan today for possible restricted growth. It’s my third pregnancy but I’ve never had a growth scan before.
I’d heard they were quite common and also how inaccurate the fundal measurement of the bump could be so I wasn’t too concerned beforehand but now I’ve been told to go back in two weeks to check again. (Prior to this I was told they would routinely do a follow up 4 weeks later unless there’s a reason for concern to do it more regularly it would be 2 weeks) The sonographer really didn’t say a lot to me so I dont know what to think. I could see on the screen the measurements were showing as 29/30 weeks. Currently weighing 3Ib 10oz.
Has anyone else had experience with growth scans or baby measuring smaller than should, what happened should I be worried or panicking over nothing?!

Thanks

3lbs 10oz at 31 weeks is quite a decent weight! Probably higher end of average. I wouldn’t be too concerned if babies height is showing at 29/30 weeks at 31 weeks pregnant. They are probably just monitoring you.

I had this! So basically on the growth scan they measure the length and circumferences of all of baby and the blood flow. The reason they'll ask again in two weeks is to see if baby is actually still growing. If they are, then yay and they'll probably keep monitoring. If baby appears to be slowing down or stopped growing then the next steps can be discussed with the doctors (c section/induction early)
My 1st went from regular fundal height to below 10th because she was breech and liked it low down in my pelvis, estimated to be tiny but came out regular at just over 6lbs naturally after ecv (ger growth was just enough on the scams but they started having issues because she was breech too)
Because baby 1 was "small" on her 25th% they did extra scans on baby 2 a few years later, who had no fundal height issues and also no slow growth issues but she still came out in the 6lbs range! And has kept just under the 50% growing up.

Do you have your notes with all the measurements on? If they haven't dropped off significantly, I wouldn't be worried x

With my DS I kept having scans up until around 35 or 36 weeks and then they said they wanted to induce at 37 weeks. He was born weighing 4lb 9oz but was perfectly healthy, had to stay overnight for 1 night just to check his blood sugar levels but even then he was on the ward with me. He didn't stay small for long he rapidly gained weight

He was 17lb by the time he was 5 months old.... Compared to his 7lb sister who was 17lb at 10 months old 😅

DD1 was considered to be growth restricted. In the end, she was 5lb 12oz at 38w so not quite as little as they were expecting. Basically they did another scan at 36w and as she'd dropped below 10th centile, they asked me to agree to an induction at 39w. So they didnt seem in a huge hurry to get her out. She came spontaneously at 38w so I didnt need the induction, but its probably worth thinking about your views on induction / c sections / waiting it out, in case they ask you to make a decision.

By 9months old, she had caught up with her more expected weight / centile (based on DH and i) and shes been on that curve ever since really. Shes now 4y.

At the same time, i also developed high BP, which can affect baby's growth, so keep an eye on yourself as well in case its a bit of an indicator of anything else going on!

@Amyjade2022I'm currently 32 weeks and had mine last week and mine is 4lbs and is fine on the percentile. They gain half a lbs on average every week until birth apparently

I had growth scans for other reasons but my fundal measurements was 10th percentile at 28 weeks, growth scans were 50th percentile at 32 and 34 weeks. I was booked for growth scans at 32, 35 and 38 weeks but couldn't make the 35 week scan so that was brought forward to 34 weeks. By was born following induction at 37 weeks weighing 6lb12. My first I didn't have growth scans for but also had a 10th percentile fundal measurements and she was born at 38+6 at 6lb13

There was a baby in my NCT group with my first that was 5lb13 at birth, by 4 months considerably bigger than my daughter and by 4 was the tallest girl from the NCT group. My daughter by comparison had only just started fitting into 2-3 y clothes. Some times they grow better on the outside!
