Possible to have Vaginal birth after C-section- prev failure to progress

Hi everyone, nearly 10 years ago I gave birth to my daughter via emergency c section- 22 hours of labour, resulted in cervix swelling and closing and emergency c section which was a really traumatic experience. I’m now 18 weeks pregnant with my second, and have a consultant app tomorrow to discuss birth plan. I had decided early on to have an elective c section this time in fear of the same thing happening again. My initial thought was if my body didn’t know what to do last time, how will it again. However I wondered if anyone had a similar last experience and went on to have a straight forward vaginal birth?? Or any advice from others in similar boat. Thanks in advance

First birth - c section
second birth - inducted as my waters broke and nothing happened
third birth (and easiest/best) - natural birth

Were the reasons for c section similar to mine? Interested in whether anyone who had issues with cervix and not progressing and then second time round was able to deliver, thanks for replies

Yes my c section was because of labour not progressing. It was such a long time ago cannot remember the details but I remember the midwife saying something about an anterior lip, baby's head was pressing on the cervix and making it swollen. Babies 2 and 3 were relatively easy births. Baby no 4 similar thing happened, so had a longer delivery but still a vaginal one. Good luck xx

First baby I laboured for 40 hours!! Got to 4cm and then had section (I know in my heart if I'd magically got to 10cm even 5 mins later I wouldn't have had the energy/strength to deliver by then anyway) I was told it was just "failure to progress" but later found out baby was OP which compounded the issue.
Second baby two years later was a natural birth with just gas/air and was a wonderful experience. Recovery was much quicker too. I think planned sections are far better than having one after going through labour.

Best of luck Flowers

Also just to add first time round they hooked me up to oxytocin and I was told to lie on my back the whole time. With second labour I was upright and mobile most of the time and on all fours for delivery.
