My boobs really really hurt...

...and I'm only 6 weeks gone! I remember my boobs, or rather my nipples, hurting when I was first pregnant with DS but I don't remember them hurting as much as they do now. They're too sore to touch and they stand out permanently - it looks like I'm either permanently cold or permanently aroused! Considering that I didn't even know I was pregnant with DS until I was about 9-10 weeks pregnant, is it normal for boobs and nipples to hurt in very early pregnancy and is there anything I can do to soothe them?

Yes and no! Actually that's not quite true, a soft sports bra worn 24 hrs a day helped me last time. This time I just have really sensitive nips, thank goodness, as those painful breasts really hurt don't they? Poor you.

i just have super sensitive nips this time, although the whole boob hurts when i release them from the comfort of the bra.
lol

DP tried to touch them a couple of weeks ago and I winced (enough details there methinks!) so I should have guessed then that I was pregnant!

I might try a sports bra. I've worn an old nursing bra every so often round the house (you know, on days you can't be bothered to put the slap on or change out of your baggy old tracksuit bottoms and slouchy t-shirt) and that seems to have made a bit of a difference so I might invest in a couple of maternity bra thingies.

Hi there!

My boobs were sooo sore and hot and itchy. It started about 4 days after conception - I thought it was just my period coming - and started getting better after about 12 weeks.
I didn't know what to do about it so kind of put up with it.
I hope you find something that helps soon! It's no fun having sore boobs!!

Hi MrsArchie I had the same thing between 7 - 12 weeks. I bought a really comfy maternity bra (2 for £20 from M&S) and thats really helped. Mine also seem to be a lot better from about 13 weeks - not so painful anymore and although my nipples are still pretty firm all the time they are not so sensitive.

I found a very gentle breast massage (avoiding the nipples!) from my DH helped but obviously make sure he knows that it has to be gentle - my DH didn't seem to mind helping out with it!

Good luck!

I found going in the bath and putting a warm wet flannel over them helped me (last pregnancy). This time, despite still breastfeeding DD I've not had much soreness. So there's hope there (or maybe my battle hardened norks are beyond pain now ).
