Red spot of blood

around 6 weeks pregnant - strong pregnancy test, no pain, only minor cramping, just went to the toilet and had a dot of fresh red blood on the toilet paper.

should I be concerned? I’ve had another spot last week but nothing more…

I would ring the GP and see if you can get an appointment at the EPU for a scan

geveyx · 06/09/2025 05:42

GP/EPU They’re not open on a Saturday 🥺

Unfortunately it's going to be a wait and see game. Red blood plus cramping isn't reassuring, but there are PLENTY of pregnancies where this happens and everything is fine. Best of luck.

@geveyx its best to get any bleeding checked out at the EPU, it varies but my local hospital you can phone directly and speak to them about being seen, or otherwise get referred by your GP. I've had bleeding, often brown but sometimes red, throughout my pregnancy. It's important to see what's happening but there are other reasons bleeding happens aside from a miscarriage (in my case a subchorionic haematoma) and often if it is not painful or heavy its not a disaster, but a scan will tell you what's going on. Best of luck x

I’ve booked a private scan today, however they do reassurance scans, also if you’ve had any bleeding/pain and they find something they will refer you to a local hospital, appt at 3.20pm today. Wish me luck xxx

I’ve also had some spotting today but only 5 weeks, I rang epau and they don’t seem too concerns at the moment but said to monitor it and if it gets worse they will bring me in for blood tests, I’m booked in for a scan anyway at 6 weeks, they said they are unlikely to scan me before then. Let me know how you get on hope it’s all ok x

Very confused - just went for scan and she couldn’t see anything, the slight outline of a sac starting to form! I thought I was 6+5 weeks!? What does this mean?

It could be you're earlier along than you'd thought, did they tell you to come back or give you any advice?

geveyx · 06/09/2025 19:02

Test next week & possibly come back in 2 weeks and see if it’s progressed, feel really rubbish. Something just feels off 😖

Ok, makes sense, sorry that's really hard having to wait. Fingers crossed that the dates are different and it's just a bit early to see anything

geveyx · 06/09/2025 19:18

Yeah I’m a little bit in a limbo stage but just thinking if it’s meant to be it will be, they gave me 2 mam bottles, dummies and a new mum kit from reception bless them, I was like… thanks 🤣🤣

Was it an ultrasound or an internal scan?

An ultrasound- she said it’s even to early for internal… which makes me wonder what is going on! Been having symptoms for 3 weeks already. So I’m thinking I’m 4-5… 6 next week possibly. .

Sorry this is weird, that's precisely why they should do internal ultrasounds so early on, because everything is so tiny. My gyn would never even bother with an abdominal scan at that gestation!

Well that’s probably why they couldn’t see anything! If you call EPU they at least might do an internal scan.

painarr · 08/09/2025 06:21

For that early on you really do need an internal scan and they should have offered you one. No wonder they couldn’t see anything. Ring your doctor or EPU today and ask for a scan. Good luck
