Ok so I should know as this is ds3....

BUT
I feel really uncomfortabl and think I am having braxton hicks ...but trying to work out if it is actually pain or uncomforatble...

I can neither remember what braxton hicks or real contractions feel like....

Am I going mad!

I'm curious too... you can get braxton hicks at 23 weeks??? I thought that was labour preparation contractions - starting way later, like just a week before you're going to deliver. I know absolutely NOTHING about this though... first pregnancy, no idea. Thanks for posting - curious about response.

I remember reading in a book that it said braxton hicks aren't painful. But real contractions are painful - that's how you can tell the difference. Is that true?

i had no braxton hicks with my 1st then from around 20 weeks i had irregular ones with the 2nd. They aren't painful as such just uncomfortable. Stomach goes rock hard and tight.

I was just going to post about this - I can't remember if I had them last time, and what I'm getting this time is quite painful. But they don't seem to feel anything like contractions?

I did have them first time, but didn't realise what they were although in my defence they are often referred to as practice contractions, so expected them to come and go like a real contraction.

However with this pregnancy I mentioned to my mw that my bump goes very hard and tight for about 5 minutes. No pain, just a bit uncomfortable because it's soooo tight. She then told me they were BH - oh and I've been getting them since about week 22.
