Hi everyone, I'm wiring on here because I am anxious and very confused! Myself and my husband had unprotected sex 13 days ago. I took a First Response test this morning and it came back negative. My period is due in 5 days. I'm anxious and cannot wait. Have I tested too early and could I still be pregnant? How common is this? I was told First Repsonse are always right so I'm a little sad If this result is true. I also experienced frequent urination and abdominal cramps the days after sex that have now gone so I was hopeful something was happening. Just want to know what people think about my situation

Yes it can be true
I tested negative the day of my surgery 20th aug

i tested positive 9th Sept
sometimes it’s takes some time to show positive

Test again when your period is due. It's not the date of sex but the date of ovulation that's key.

When you had sex is irrelevant. It depends whether you were ovulating around that time. And from the dates of your next period it sounds like it might have been a bit early. But sperm can hang around a bit so it’s possible.

But frequent urination and even cramps a few days after sex is unlikely to be pregnancy related. Cramping perhaps could be implantation around 6-12 days after. But needing to pee more is caused by hormones and you wouldn’t have had any a few days after sex.

I would say chances are you’re not pregnant but until your period arrives there’s always a chance. If you’re actually trying to conceive it’s best to time sex to just before and during ovulation to increase chances.

Do you want to be pregnant?

SharpRubyUser · 04/09/2025 08:25

Thank you all for your messages. I do want to be pregnant, yes. But I think you are right. I am feeling absolutely no symptoms anymore so it is unlikely, just those ones during the ovulation period which was unusual for me, that's why I had false hope. I will just have to keep trying. Thank you for all of your help, I really appreciate the feedback
