Hey guys, is it normal for your lower abdomen to feel like it gets tight on and off in early pregnancy? I’m around 6-7 weeks from my calculations, and I’m getting slightly tender boobs, slight nausea, slight lower back ache which I known are all normal, BUT my lower abdomen occasionally feels as though it’s getting hard/tight on and off, it isn’t painful though but I am aware of it. It feels worse when I feel stressed or anxious about something (I know this could be psychological)🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m worried, because who doesn’t worry constantly especially in early pregnancy😅

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like Braxton hicks to me but that's very early to be having them 🤔 is this your first pregnancy? I'd maybe mention it to your doctor or midwife as I don't think that is normal at your stage but I wouldn't worry too much if you're not having any pain

It's too early for round ligament pain. It might be nothing but I'd be concerned it's a UTI, UTIs feel different in pregnancy. If you're not with a midwife yet you could ask to send a sample off at your GP.

If you were 20 weeks plus I'd say this is exactly what round ligament pain feels like.

I think round ligament pain starts earlier in subsequent pregnancies, is this your first?

My top guesses are:

  1. It's just nothing
  2. UTI (or even VB)
  3. Unusually early round ligament pain

Thanks all, it could be a UTI then as I’ve been having trouble with my waterworks yesterday but it isn’t as bad today! I will phone my GP tomorrow. I haven’t heard back about a midwife yet after referring myself to the antenatal team in my area.
Thank you. I was worrying it was something more sinister. This is technically my 5th pregnancy, I have only 2 children though. I don’t remember this before my previous mc’s or even during any of my pregnancies actually!

Sorry to hear of your losses. If you've got other possible UTI symptoms then that's a real possibility. Hope your GP is able to send off a sample for you tomorrow. Best wishes

Thank you so much for the advice and support, I appreciate your time to help me. A UTI makes so much sense now! Fingers crossed that’s all it is. Thanks again :-)
