Second trimester spotting

Has anyone been experiencing any spotting? I had very slight brown spotting after a bowel movement at 11 weeks that made me panic but was so light and passed very quickly.

Then again a couple of weeks ago at 17 weeks I had the same after a bowl movement, brown spotting/discharge and a couple of very small brown clots. I panicked again and phoned the triage who said brown blood = old blood and to monitor it and call back if any pain or it gets heavier and changes colour etc. None of these things happened thankfully and it cleared up in a few days.

I also got a private scan done a few days later for peace of mind and all looked good.

Then a week later (Sunday last week) the same happened again. Very light brown spotting almost like discharge more than blood for a couple of days (after a BM on Sunday morning)

I’m sure it’s all normal and fine and everything I’ve read and been told indicates brown blood is fine but has anyone else been experiencing this?

I had absolutely no spotting during my first pregnancy so this is all new to me.

My 20 week scan isn’t till next week. I’m only just (I think!) starting to feel the odd movement which is frustrating as I assumed as my second pregnancy I would feel her much earlier but I have been told I have an anterior placenta again.

Hi @Yellowdaff25. Just wondering if you have any update that you can share. I'm also feeling a bit anxious. I'm 13 weeks preganant today. I started spotting (bright red spot the first time) yesterday, which continues today (now just a few tiny brown droplets on my liner).

This is my first pregnancy, and I'm not sure if this is normal or I should be worried. I emailed my midwife about it yesterday, but I still haven't heard from her.

Hi! I’m 24 weeks now and so far have had 3 separate instances of spotting. So far all is okay but I have a low lying placenta that was discovered at my 20 weeks scan that may be the cause of the spotting but they don’t really know. I had no spotting whatsoever with my first pregnancy either.

I would phone triage just to be safe. When I did they told me just to monitor it and call back if it got heavier or any cramping which thankfully didn’t happen. Wishing you all the best xx

Glad to hear you're doing fine! Thanks for the advice. I'll stop by the after hours clinic today to have myself checked and get a peace of mind. I've also been having a heavy coughing bout after recovering from colds. I'm worried this might add unneccessary pressure on my abdomen/uterus so will also consult the doctor about it.
