Really faint positives for a week

I’ve been testing since last Wednesday where I’ve had really faint positives. I took a digital on Wednesday and it showed 1-2 weeks and I took one again on Sunday which still showed 1-2 weeks. I can’t see that the line has progressed much, but it is slightly darker from Wednesday. I feel as though it could be ectopic, but I’ve had no other symptoms and when I tried to speak to a consultant, they said that it shouldn’t be dark until day 45 of my cycle? And laughed at me and told me not to stress. It’s not getting any lighter at the moment. To provide some context, I was due on my period 9 days ago so it should definitely be a dark positive if it is a viable pregnancy right? But I know I had a late ovulation, I’m just not sure when. I just don’t know where to go from here, could anyone offer me some advice? I just feel as though it’s either a chemical or ectopic, but really don’t know what my next steps are. Thanks for reading.

Hi @Amyw1995 The digitals show you weeks from conception not from ovulation. If you had 1-2 weeks on wednesday you'd maybe not expect to see the 2-3 weeks until just over a week after that. Hcg levels in urine lag a couple of days behind blood too.

If you are worried about progression you might want to compare using the same brand, FRER are usually quite goood. Cheap strips might be a cheaper way of doing it.

If you think you ovulated later than usual you are maybe much earlier on than you initially thought. Retesting in 2 days should hopefully show some progression. If the lines don't darken at all you might unfortunately be looking at a chemical. It's an awful wait and see.

If you are worried about an ectopic ring your local EPU and see if they can scan you. The policies differ and some might say they won't see you until you are 5 weeks.

Good luck!

The only way to know if pregnancy is progressing is with a blood test 48-72 hrs apart to check if hcg is rising.
I wouldn't stress about the tests . I really don't think they are a reliable indicator of viable pregnancy or not, unless hcg levels go down.
My first pregnancy my line never got dark. It was always faint and he's now a 1 year old
