Hi ladies, I got my bfp a few days ago and am feeling allll the emotions. I am hoping to get an early scan to check for a heartbeat but im terrified I will get there and find there isn’t one without any prior warning. Is it normal to find this or would there be bleeding/cramping beforehand?

I wouldn't get a scan until 7.5 weeks minimum incase dates are off and you get unnecessary stress.
Most of the time all is fine but don't worry yourself unnecessarily.
Congratulations!!

Unfortunately yes you can have an early scan and they find a missed miscarriage without any warning. I have had a couple myself. Bleeding and cramping normally signals a “normal” miscarriage. Missed miscarriages are often known as silent miscarriages because you don’t have symptoms or warnings.

As the PP said if you wait until 7+ weeks you’re more likely to get a reliable answer as to whether the pregnancy is viable. Going to early could be more stressful if you’re a few days out with dates. My IVF clinic would only scan after 7 weeks for this reason.
