34 weeks + light bleeding

Hi - I just wondered if anyone had experienced similar.

I’m currently 34+2 and this morning when I wiped after a wee I had a small amount of red blood on the tissue. This continued to happen (small amount of red/pink blood) every time I went to the loo until a few hours ago when it seems to have, at least temporarily, stopped.

I’m currently at the hospital being checked over and so far baby movements are fine and my cervix is closed.
They’ve said light bleeding can be a sign of pre-term labour so I’m currently being kept in for 24 hours to keep an eye.

I just wondered if anyone had a similar experience and whether it led to pre-term labour. Or if there’s anyone out there that had a similar thing happen but still managed to get to full term?

I’m due to have a planned C section at 38 + 4 days (due to severe adhesions from my previous emergency C section). I’m really concerned about the potential for pre-term labour as I had a rather stressful time with my last birth (long story but resulted in emergency c section, huge blood loss, and then I had sepsis post birth), and so this time I was hoping for a calm and planned C section, on a set date, with a set consultant - basically as an attempt to control as much of the situation as possible (compared to last time where everything was urgent and a panic).

Really grateful to hear of anyone else’s similar experiences, and the outcome of this (i.e. if it resulted in early labour or not).

Thank you!

No experience to share I'm afraid. But i thought I'd bump hor you. How are you getting on? I hope it all goes okay.

I had the same thing, at 34 weeks too.

I was in the public system here in Oz but luckily my Aunty is an OBGYN. She said a small bleed can herald a bigger bleed- which didn't happen. Just 24 hours of monitoring, an ultrasound to make sure the placenta wasn't too close to the cervix, and I went home. Had a spontaneous vaginal birth at 38+6.

Fingers crossed for you, sounds like you're in the right place.

Thank you! Ok at the moment. Still in hospital but no further action yet.

This is so great to hear, thank you.

Yes I’ve read the same about a possibility of a bigger bleed to follow…

They’ve suggested they’ll keep me in for 24 hours after my last bleed (which was 10:40am yesterday), so provided no further bleed I assume I’ll be able to leave by late morning.

Really pleased to hear you got to over 38 weeks despite the bleed at 34 weeks. Hoping I manage the same…!!

Thank you so much. Ended up being kept in hospital for another day, as they couldn’t guarantee it wasn’t the start of pre-term labour. But I’ve been discharged now and back home under the instruction that if there are any signs of early labour, I rush back in.
Counting down the 3 weeks until my planned c section now, hoping nothing dramatic happens between now and then (have a slight meltdown every time I need a wee hoping no more bleeding)… And hoping I can keep this baby in until then!
Thanks so much for checking in.
