When to buy things struggling with anxiety

Hello,

I am now 25 weeks and still haven't bought anything. I am wondering when would be good to get a start ? And where to start ? I have really struggled this pregnancy due to a traumatic loss with my first which effected me a lot more mentally that I realised at the time.

Also everyone seems to love a next to me but I have a dog who gets on the bed and I’d be worried he’d get in. I was thinking just buy a Moses basket and a cot. Has anyone gone straight to cot?

Also if anyone knows of a good off road pram ( I love walks in the woods) that would be good. Sorry for all the questions I have been living in mental pregnancy isolation if that makes sense.

Hello

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss ❤

I started with the little things - baby clothes, bibs, a little hair comb. Then we got the moses basket, the bouncer etc. You have a lot of time though, so be patient with yourself.

When to start? When you feel ready. I don’t think anyone can tell you when, only you will know when the time is right. Prams usually take about a month to arrive after ordering, and our cot took 6weeks. This is from a shop brand new, there’s always the option of second hand if you’re open to it, then you don’t have to buy in advance.
I have the Cybex Balios S Lux pram/stroller, it’s built a bit more heavy duty. It’s got suspension, bigger wheels, and can take a lot of weight (the guy in the shop got in it and he weighed 70kg!). I’m really happy with it and I live up a mountain & im not the best driver (always bumping into things) and it’s been fine!
Good luck 🍀💖

I completely get you. I put off buying stuff for my first after a loss as well, felt like jinking it.
You have loads of time! It depends on how set you are on buying things new, if you are thinking a lot of second hand stuff (just no car seat!) then start browsing for clothes and stuff on vinted/charity shops and you'll soon get it all together. You can also find good deals on FB marketplace.

Bed- through just trial and error and how everything worked with our first we ended up with a moses basket and a next to me. Moses basket probably went at 2/3 months and then she was in next to me until 7 months. (I am trying to remember if the dog ever got in the next to me as it seems like something she would do but I don't think so lol. Definitely not after the baby started sleeping in it)

Off road pram - I have out n about nipper which is fab. Got second hand on eBay though as they are v pricey new! Need an insert if you are using for a new born.

I'm sorry for your loss. I understand your anxiety, I delayed getting things out of fear of jinxing things. I think I started around 30 weeks when the right second-hand things came up. The essential cot and then a few cute outfits and muslins.

For off-road can highly recommend the out n about sports (running pram with big inflatable tires). Can bounce up and down everything. But can't really use it with newborn as it's not completely lue flat, we started at 4 months. No running till 6 months.
