Fused lower lumbar

Hi.

just wondering if anyone has any experience or knows of anyone who’s had a natural birth with fused lower lumbar in the spine.

I broke my back as a child and had spinal surgery at 11. My lower lumbar are fused from a bone graft.

I also have 4 fibroids, one of which is 6cm and close to my cervix.

im only 19 weeks, so haven’t met with any consultants yet, but wondered if its likely I’ll need a c section or could I try a natural delivery first.

this is my first pregnancy, my wife had a natural delivery with our first baby and a c section with our second and I’d prefer natural if possible as the recovery from her c section was rough.

TIA x

if they haven’t already made the referral it would be worth asking for a clinic appointment with an anaesthetist. They’ll be able to assess your back/ metalwork/ imaging etc and go through the options for pain relief/anaesthesia for whichever mode of delivery you end up having. Obstetrician will be able to go through the issues that the fibroid might cause. Both consultants can liaise with spinal surgeons if necessary.
