I had bloods taken on friday and they come back at 1084, I had another lot taken on sunday but unfortunately they lost them bloods so had to go in today. The result today is 6497 - is this good? Progesterone is at 79 aswell?! I've had 2 miscarriages this year already and worried.

Did the people doing the bloods not explain the figures at all? They'd probably be the best to ask x

hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin)

  • On Friday your hCG was 1,084.
  • On Tuesday (today) it’s 6,497.

That’s about a 6-fold increase in 4 days. In early pregnancy, hCG is expected to roughly double every 48–72 hours. Your numbers are rising strongly, which is a reassuring sign.

Even though the Sunday bloods were lost, the trend from Friday → Tuesday is very good.

Progesterone

  • Your level is 79 nmol/L (if measured in nmol/L), which is well within the supportive range for early pregnancy.
  • Generally, anything above ~30 nmol/L is considered supportive for pregnancy. Higher levels like yours suggest your body is producing plenty of progesterone, which is a good sign for sustaining the pregnancy.

What this means

  • Both your hCG rise and your progesterone level are encouraging.
  • They cannot guarantee the outcome, but compared to your history of miscarriage, these results are very positive.
  • The next step is usually an early pregnancy scan once your hCG is above ~1,500–2,000, which you already are. A scan around 6–7 weeks (from last period) is usually most informative.
