Too early to see a heartbeat in EPU?

Hi all, this is kind of confusing so hopefully I've explained it right. I'm 6 weeks 2 days pregnant. My last period was 12th July which confirms I'm 6 weeks, 2 days but I ovulated at 25dpo on the 6th August. Does that put me a week behind.

My reason for asking is I've been referred to the Early Pregnancy Unit tomorrow as I've a severe pregnancy loss history. Two early miscarriages and unfortunately my twins died at birth. One stillborn and my second died in the neonatal unit. This all happened in 15 months so my anxiety is very high.

But I dont want to go in tomorrow if Im a week behind as I won't see a heartbeat at 5 weeks , am I better off pushing it to next week. Thanks so much for reading

Your story sounds somewhat like mine with multiple losses, mine all first trimester though. I’m so sorry about your babies, I’ve never suffered such losses and can’t imagine how you’d deal with this so big hugs.
my second successful pregnancy was much the same, thought I was 6 weeks but had a scan and he was measuring 5 weeks 1 day, no heart beat but all looked ok at that point so I went for another scan a few weeks later and he was growing well, heart beating fine. Do you think you’d be able to get another reassurance scan? My son is 13 now do this all happened 14 years ago and my consultant was brilliant, a miscarriage expert. Really good luck with whatever you do x

Thank you and I'm sorry for your losses too. It really ruins the joy of early pregnancy. Yes I think they will push it back a week. It's so frightening isn't it?

so sorry to hear about your experience 😔
you will only be 5 weeks pregnant so yes I would t expect a heartbeat but I would still go along and have reassurance that pregnancy is in the right place etc and then they will no doubt rebook for another 7-10 days time to check for heartbeat?

Do you mean you ovulated on cycle day 25 (25 days from LMP 12 July) rather than cycle day 14? In which case you’re 11 days behind so I would definitely postpone your scan till 6 weeks based on ovulation day. So if you calculate your LMP as the date 2 weeks before your ovulation day I.e 23 July, you’ll be 6 weeks on 3 sept. I understand the anxiety having had previous losses myself and also delayed my early 6 week EPU scan by 4 days because I ovulated on cycle day 18 - so 4 days behind. I didn’t want to risk being told I’m tracking behind with no fetal pole etc when I know I am, and the uncertainty would cause me anxiety.

Also at 5 weeks they may not even see a yolk sac and some EPUs won’t confirm it’s not ectopic unless they can see a yolk sac as just a gestational sac isn’t evidence another sac with baby isn’t growing elsewhere.

I remember your story on the conception boards so sorry. Did you have a successful pregnancy I feel like I remember you conceiving ? Apologies if that’s wrong
