Hi, just looking if this is such a thing or if anyone has experienced similar?
This is my third pregnancy so honestly you’d think I’d know by now but they’ve all been so different!
For the last few days / week or two I have been getting a small ‘gush’ of fluid. Maybe a couple of times a day. My waters broke naturally with my first and it’s no way near the level of what I experienced then but it’s enough to need to need to change underwear. It’s clear fluid but does also look like white discharge as well sometimes within so I didn’t know if it was just that but it’s way more discharge than I’ve experienced before and noticeable.
I am only 29 weeks this is why I’m a bit panicked. Anyone know or had similar?

I would say you need to contact your midwife. My waters definitely leaked out slowly and I had to catch some in a bottle to convince the staff at the hospital that it was happening.

It can be waters yes. Or, it could be discharge or urine. Only way to really know is to let your midwife know and have things checked.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 25/08/2025 08:47

Yes, it's possible, and you need to have it checked because if it is and it's been more than 24hrs then there's an infection risk for your baby.

You need to call your midwife or maternity unit today.

LuckysDadsHat · 25/08/2025 08:48

It could be. Baby's head could be plugging the gap where there is a little hole in the sac. When baby moves a bit "water" can leak out.

It’s totally possible, and if it was waters the infection risk increases every day so it’s vital to checked. However huge amounts of discharge/small bits of wee are also possible so don’t panic, but do get checked today - do not leave it any more days.

Yes, this is how my waters broke at 34 weeks. I’d call the triage line now and go in. They can do a swab to test whether it’s your waters.

OP I REALLY hope you see this. This happened to me and it was what they called my ‘hind waters’ I was told by triage it wasn’t my waters but they didn’t test me…when I went in for a sweep the midwife confirmed it was and asked me when I’d started…3 days ago. I was taken to the ward there and then and induced. It was a horrific experience and I had a horrible birth. Please please please get checked
