Hello, this week I have started feeling movements and the past 3 days it’s been at a similar time every day and I have felt a few sharp jabs in almost the same location to the left of my belly button. Only 2 or 3 over the space of a couple of hours but today I haven’t felt anything… I know it’s really early to be feeling much but today I have had lower back pain too so my mind is whirling… if anyone has experienced similar would be great to hear.

At that stage it’s too early to be feeling movement every day. Baby could have just moved and is facing another way so you don’t feel the movement as they are still so small. I didn’t feel movement daily till about 20 weeks. Before then like you I could feel it for 2-3 days and then a day or 2 of nothing and then would feel it again.

Oh thankyou, that’s really reassuring

I'm 20+4 and have only just started to feel what I think might be flutters but I can't be sure! It's totally normal to not feel regular movements early on. I was in triage this week and the midwife said around 26 weeks is when you can expect to really be able to have a movement pattern.

Ahh yeah I know I was lucky to feel anything so early, you just get used to feeling something and then pregnancy brain just makes you spiral when you stop. I think it was because it was teamed with lower back pain my mind took me to the worst possible outcome. Trying to stay more positive today

I'm sure my moments were on and off at that point with my last pregnancy.

Do you know what position your placenta is in? If it's anterior then you'll feel movements on and off for a while. I'm 26 weeks with an anterior placenta and movements are still inconsistent. My baby also has quiet days where I need to shake my belly to get some kicks!

CharlotteRae · 26/08/2025 11:09

@JuniperandIyeah it’s anterior! So I was surprised I felt anything in the first place- the kicks or whatever they were were always to the left of my belly button so wondering if the placenta is slightly over to the right…. And maybe baby has moved now … still haven’t felt anything like what I was feeling so trying to stay positive

I kept doing this. Try not to panic. They are just really tiny and moving around. Even now at 26 weeks when the baby turns over I can feel them much less and it starts to freak me out.

Unless you are getting cramps or bleeding just try to relax

@PrincessofLiechtensteinthankyou 🥰
