Hi! Looking to hear from people that may of been in a similar situation. Yesterday afternoon I started having sharp like pains in my left ovary. On and off, not constant happened about 10 times, I was worried so went to the emergency department to be checked over. This morning I have had no pain and i have not had any bleeding at any point, but was checked in the early pregnancy clinic and had a scan. He said I was 3 weeks 6 days (I thought I was 4 weeks +1) but couldnt see a pregnancy in my uterus even though the pregnancy test came back positive. (I found out I was pregnant quite early 5 days ago) He said its probably because im too early or ectopic. Ive had my bloods taken today. Anyone else ever in a similar situation? Im worried sick, I hope it is because im too early.

I went to the EPU at 5 weeks and was diagnosed with pregnancy of unknown location. I'd had bleeding and pain/cramps mostly on one side. My HCG numbers came back quite high so I went in again 3/4 days later for another scan where they could then see the sac. Had another scan two weeks later where there was a heart beat. I'm 18 weeks now.

It's likely just far too early to see anything. They usually wouldn't even invite you in that early and often wait until 6 weeks. How did they measure the pregnancy date? Did they just use your last period? Even if they didn't early datings is very unreliable so I wouldn't worry about them being out. I measured 6 days behind on my 3rd scan Vs 2nd which worried me but then at my 12 week I was 2 days ahead. So they do jump around.

Hiya, thanks for commenting. I'm so happy your situation turned out good and congratulations on your pregnancy. Yes the doctor calculated my pregnancy date by LMP. I know I'm far too early for a scan but I thought he might of seen something but there was nothing there yet, I'm pretty anxious but trying to stay positive and remember i am super early in my pregnancy.

Thank you.

I hope it's good news for you as well. But it's nerve wrecking. Just try to relax and keep and eye out for the warning signs of ectopic.

It's definitely too early. When I was researching after mine I was shocked they had seen me that early. Have you got a date for the next scan yet?

If your dates are correct, it’s still very early. Your HCG will give you an indication. You can’t see anything if under 1,000.

I had early scans because of an ectopic last year and at 4 weeks they couldn’t see anything. At 5 weeks they saw an empty sack. At 7 weeks we saw the baby with a heartbeat.
I’m now 16 weeks with all looking good.

I know it’s hard but it’s just a waiting game. Good luck 🤞🏻

I’m really surprised they scanned you that early. EPU’s don’t tend to do that until 6 weeks. I’d imagine under 5 weeks is also too early to see an ectopic. Anyway, fingers crossed for you - no bleeding is a good sign!
