Hi,

I am 41 and 21 weeks pregnant.

  • I had harmony at FMC - no issues and revealed its a MALE
  • 20 week scan at FMC - no issues with uterine artery blood flow. Somographer scanned for 1hour plus and checked all. Initially thought it was a girl, we said Harmony said it was a boy, she rechecked scan and confirmed a boy
  • NHS 20 week scan - said dopplers raised and its a girl. We said harmony said it was a boy - they said they will recheck later.

I am panicking that my baby boy doesnt have genitals and worried about dopplers. who should i trust, FMC or NHS?

Have they referred you for the Doppler comment? I’m not really sure what that means. Considering your FMC scan confirmed boy it’s silly to worry there are no male genitals. It’s not about who to trust, it’s about double checking - regarding Dopplers that is. The NHS scan found a potential issue, so the sex of the baby and double checking was obviously 100% irrelevant

sounds like probably everything is fine :) but -

Is FMC fetal medicine centre? If so, their scan will be better than the NHS one.
however I don’t think it’s silly to worry about this and want to out your mind at ease.
is it possible to call FMC back, say to them that you’ve had discordant NIPT and fetal sex on scan reported by NHS scan and initially their own scan, and ask them to double check their images +/- scan you again? If NIPT and sex on scan is truly different then it is worth some consideration - there are a number of reasons that can happen though and a lot of the time there’s no concern in the end.
re Dopplers again FMC should be better at that than NHS, would just ask them to clarify. If your uterine doppler abnormal that would generally mean more checks incl growth scans but also doesn’t mean there’s an actual problem (more like categorizes a higher chance of developing growth or blood pressure issues later).
