GD test - confused!

Hello

I had my gestational diabetes test today and it came back within normal levels. However, the result 2 hours after the glucose drink was lower than the one before (I expected it to be higher because 'normal' level is higher). I'll discuss this with the midwife on Wednesday but has anyone else had this?

Thanks.

Yep, it’s dead normal, the reason they make you do the first test after fasting is because your glucose spikes when you fast, your body starts to use stored sugar which if you have GD can mean you get a high result on the fasting blood test. The second one shows how your body deals with sugar in a short timescale.
If they were both in the ‘normal’ category then that’s positive.

Thank you. You've put my mind at ease. Yay for no GD!
