first trimester exhaustion is just awful. I didn’t have it with my first baby.

im getting enough sleep at night, but all I want to do it sleep and nap… and that’s not an option due to work/ daughter.

im irritable, tired, no energy or motivation to do anything, house work, gardening, cooking all seems like a huge effort. I’ve just been food shopping and just staring at the food on the counter wishing it would put itself away because I just can’t see to do it!!

im so tired I just want to cry!

does this pass??!!!

ps. Sorry to sound moany; I’m so happy about the pregnancy!

It does pass! I was like this and thought it would never end. I’m sixteen weeks now and for the last few weeks have felt remarkably better. Obviously still a bit more tired by the end of the day than usual but nothing as bad. Hang in there, brighter days ahead x

@Sunflower2478thank you for your positive words! So do you think into the second trimester you began to feel better? Congratulations on your baby!x

yes it passes! I remember falling asleep sitting bolt upright at my desk several times at work I was so exhausted. Completely fine in 2nd trimester!

You’re welcome and thank you, congrats to you too! Yes definitely about the 12 and a half week mark for me was a radical improvement (I know everyone is different) but I think it’s quite common to feel much better in the second trimester. I’ve gone from being too ill and exhausted to do anything to having to remind myself sometimes that I am indeed pregnant because I largely feel so much better x

@AnnieAveragei fell asleep today working (luckily I work from home & I have flexible hours, but it’s like a tiredness I’ve never felt)!
Not even the new born tiredness of my daughter compares right now!
relieved to hear you’re feeling better in your second trimester - congratulations on your baby! X

Ha I understand that! Hopefully not too long now and you’ll be there!

I get terrible exhaustion in my first trimesters. Even if I'm laying in bed doing nothing I still feel the exhaustion in my body! It's like I can feel it in my bones.

It does pass though and you go back to normal in 2nd trimester. It's hard to believe that you will ever feel normal again because you feel it for months on end but it does get better!

Moosey898 · 21/08/2025 19:55

Yes! Weeks 7-10 for me wete awful. I'm still permanently tired (20 weeks) but not that level of exhaustion where you're flat out and just can't do anything! Got much better since about 13 weeks.
