Wasn’t sure where to post but just hoping to find my people.

I learnt 1 week ago that I’m pregnant at 44 - very unplanned and unexpected.
Ive been in peri for the last 6-9 months and its been hell quite frankly so I missed all the early pregnancy symptoms.

Id love to hear how others have navigated peri and pregnancy combined?

For context I have a 3 year old and a 14 year old already.

Thanks for reading 🫠☺️

Congratulations 🎉 I was 42. It was actually a smoother ride than when I had first dc a few years before.

Hiya, yes I am 40. I've got an almost 11 year old from previous relationship. 26 weeks pregnant after miscarriage and TFMR, so it's been a journey.

how far along are you?

Congratulations!

I’m 44 and am 24 weeks pregnant. I also have a 3 year old. My pregnancies are from IVF though after years of unsuccessfully TTC. Everything is going fine so far although just waiting to see if I have gestational diabetes again this time.

Congratulations! I am 40 this week and am currently 6 weeks pregnant. I have an 18 year old from a previous relationship. She will be 19 by the time this one comes along if everything works out OK. How are you feeling so far?

Your post gives me so much hope that I have a chance to have another baby! Xx

I’m 42 and I have a 10-months old. I don’t find it nearly as bad as everyone says, I can easily keep up with him. If I don’t get any sleep at night then yes, I’m tired, but I remember that I also was tired if I didn’t sleep at night (for different reasons) in my 20s. I had a lot of people telling me that I wouldn’t be able to cope in my 40s because of tiredness and lower energy levels but that’s absolutely not the case. All the best for your pregnancy!

Yep 43 here and currently 38 weeks, it was a surprise and it took me a while to get my head around it. Feel s bit self conscious being older but I’m physically fit and healthy and young for my age. I have a 16,8 and 6 yr old boys

I’m 45 and 19wks pregnant after a MMC Christmas 2021 and stillborn twins in 2022. After two years TTC we’d tried to
make peace with never having a child together, so this wee one was definitely a surprise!

I don’t think I’d hit perimenopause yet, but it was interesting TTC because there’s so much crossover between peri/pregnancy/period symptoms it was impossible to tell what was happening!

Dragonhouses · 18/08/2025 15:14

42 and literally waiting any day now to go into labour with my first (and last!).

I had a couple of miscarriages before now due to a health condition I wasn’t aware of and nothing to do with age.

I’d say it’s easier as I have an established career, mortgage, my husband has a good job and we’re very settled and happy.we are lucky that we have no money worries either.

on the cons side I’ve struggled with sickness throughout and I’m absolutely exhausted but I don’t know if that’s age or just me.

I don’t feel or look my age (well probably at the moment I do) x

Hello, I’m 43 and 32w pregnant. I have a 2 year old. I’ve had a straight forward pregnancy so far with no problems, I’m just finding it difficult to lift my daughter! Still running once a week as well.
Congratulations!

Thank you for all the encouraging comments everyone.
Im only 8 weeks along so it’s very early days…I’m not getting my hopes up yet until I can have a NIPT test and check all is well.
Because this was unplanned I haven’t taken any folic or early pregnancy supplements.
I’d also been drinking, had Botox and also had a bad case of vertigo which resulted in several anti nausea injections (no idea of the potential side effects of that but I’m pretty sure they asked if I could be pregnant before jabbing me and I said no)

Its such a strange headspace to be in…we spent years TTC to get our 3 year old (many losses) and so every pregnancy was filled with joy and hope whereas this time I’m filled with dread.

The last wee while has been such a hormonal rollercoaster with the peri symptoms it’s very hard to embrace this pregnancy with the same joy as I would have a few years ago.

I appreciate this space to share my thoughts in
