bump pains

Hi,
Have had some nasty pains in bump, am now 17 weeks. First had them about 3 weeks ago, then again but not as bad and now today, the worst ones.
Left work about 2.30 and had a loooong drive home with pains.
Phoned midwife and she said to rest and take paracetamol and go to doc if gets worst or there's any bleeding.

She thought it might be ligament pains but tbh its all over the bump, and it feels more like false labour pains. Its also been going away a bit and coming back again this eve. This is my 2nd, with Ds got false labour pains at 41weeks.

Could it be braxton hicks or something at 17 weeks???
Any suggestions to make them go away?

Could well be braxton hicks. Is this a second pregnancy - mine started at 15 weeks and are bloody painful. Dehydration makes them worse, try drinking more water. Also try lying on your left side and breathing deeply (yeah I know it's hard when you are driving to do so).

Chocbiscuits - i had this about the same time. Agree with whomovedmychocolate re the dehyration thing. i was told to go to bed, take 2 paracetamol and call if it was not better. I did that, drank lots of water and within a few hours they had got less and next day i was fine. If your still worried call midwife again, its what they are their for.

I had horrible pain about 2 weeks ago (at 18 weeks) and dr said to try putting ice on where it hurt most intensely... the ice made it feel better after about 20 minutes (but pain came back shortly after ice was gone) but this made the dr think it was ligament/muscular pain, not anything to be worried about. Maybe try the ice or heat pack?

Thinking about it I guess it did start just after a cup of tea and I think I only drank tea all day and nothing with lunch....

Seems to be alright now, although it was still hurting at 4am.
....
Off to get a big cup of water....
and will try hots and colds, although it was hurting kinda all over.
Hope everyone else's pains go away.
