Hi!

so I thought I may be lucky second pregnancy as I got to 7 weeks an no sickness (my first started early) but the last few days it’s hit!

no throwing up… yet…

but I’ve had constant nausea, can’t really eat much, water is hard to drink.

The doctor has prescribed me Xonvea ready for if it got it bad, however I’m kind of waiting for it to get really bad before I take. And now I’m thinking shall I just take it now before it gets worse?

what did you do please?

I started anti sickness meds from the GP at 6 weeks. They did absolutely nothing and ended up admitted to EPU at 8 weeks for IV fluids as I couldnt keep anything down.
They prescribed Xonvea and its worked wonders.

You dont get bonus points for being a hero and not taking the meds.
Take them and try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

@JungleRun21 very true! I guess the whole point of me getting them ready was if it started and no point waiting till I throw up…

As soon as I knew I was pregnant which was a few days after I was expecting my period. I had HG iny first pregnancy and the advice is to go straight on antisickness meds to try and limit/prevent it in future pregnancies. I still got it in my next two pregnancies but I managed to avoid hospitalisation with both of those and was overall less severely sick in pregnancy 2 compared to 1, and even less so in pregnancy 3. Pregnancy 3 was the only one I tried Xonvea in and it worked better than anything I'd took in previous pregnancies. Was therefore the only pregnancy where I didn't end up needing second line meds.

@LegoHouse274 Thank you for your comment ❤️ So the doctors never said I had HG but with my first I threw up for around 20 weeks but had to continue the medication throughout and omeprazole as would it would come back if not. I think I got the meds incase it suddenly got back - today I just thought hmmm this is getting worse quickly do I just nip it in the bud now. I’m glad each of your pregnancies got easier! x

I didn't have it awfully but did have it on and off all the way through on second pregnancy (much worse than my first) -kept expecting it to go away so only started drugs at month 7.... wish I'd done it immediately when the symptoms hit. for me the solution was omeprazole rather than direct anti-nausea drugs.

Take asap. The earlier you take them the more effective they are - that has been proven & is why the charity Sickness in Pregnancy recommends taking prophylactically. I took Xonvea in this pregnancy and it was amazing. I was so grateful for it!
