Measuring behind with IVF pregnancy

Hi everyone

Had a hell of a day so far! I'm pregnant following a ivf frozen embryo transfer. Should be 7 weeks today.
Went for my clinics viability scan and gestational sac, yolk sac seen and they completed a CRL measurement at 2.8mm. So they measured pregnancy at 6 weeks 4 days and no heartbeat seen.
Drama with clinic and the awful way I was treated but been referred to EPU for follow up scan and to continue meds till then. I feel totally hopeless. Anyone else been in this situation?

Thanks

My understanding is that a 3 day difference is a fraction of a mm, and it's really hard to measure that accurately. A tiny size difference like that, I wouldn't be worried about. I don't know about the heartbeat though and whether it's normal not to see one at this point; did they comment on that at all?

I think it could go either way at this point. Measuring 3 days behind isn’t a big deal this early on. The heartbeat situation is a bit more unsure. Most people should be able to see a heartbeat by 6.4. But saying that, it’s not unheard of to not and everything still be fine.

I had IVF and had a scan at 7 weeks and was only measuring 5 and no heartbeat. So in my situation I knew it hadn’t worked out as measuring that far behind isn’t good news.

Sorry you've had a crappy day.

The lack of visible heartbeat is more of an issue than the measurement. Even that early on, my clinic are happy with a measurement up to 5 days either way because of notoriously tricky measuring of something so tiny. But ideally you would have seen a heartbeat by 6 weeks... definitely by 7.

All you can do is hold on until the EPU. Even with a few days more you'll be in a better position to see what you need to see - or know that things aren't going the way you've planned x

I’m really sorry you are going through this - I know how stressful it is. I had IVF and am also pregnant, went for my first scan last week when I should have been 6.5 weeks but was measuring 4 days behind. Doctor could see the yolk sac and embryo but no heartbeat. I’m going back tomorrow for another scan. Waiting has been awful so I know how it feels. Keeping everything crossed for you!!

So stressful. I am also newly preg after a FET. I just booked in for my scan when I will be 6+5 the day before going on holiday and the nurse said it may be too early for them to detect a heartbeat at that stage (they prefer do it sometime in the 7th week). I have read loads of stories from other women of there not being a heartbeat at their early viability scan but there being one a few weeks later so I remain really hopeful for you.

@EduardaDBall the best for your scan today. - keeping everything crossed

@Bibiddi thank you so much! My scan went really well! Baby caught up and is now measuring 7 weeks + 4 days and a strong heartbeat! It was such an amazing, special and emotional day! Posting here in case it helps someone who’s stuck in that horrible limbo - it was so stressful but there is definitely hope!!!!
