16 weeks pregnant, zero bump!

Hey everyone!

I had a healthy scan 2 weeks ago. Strong heartbeat, lots of movement and measured perfectly. I thought by 16 weeks I would have a bump, but nope!! Zero bump, I do have more bloat which is much lower down but I can suck all the way in. Any thoughts?

That's perfectly normal, especially if it's your first pregnancy, some women don't start showing until around the 20 week mark x

ThelastRolo20 · 14/08/2025 12:55

I didn't have a bump with my first until 20 weeks! Appeared overnight :)

Completely normal, I remember having my 20 week scan with my first DD and my stomach was pretty flat lying down and I was thinking I hope they don’t think I’m lying about being pregnant 😂
Didn’t get a noticeable bump until about 25 weeks

TTCupdates · 14/08/2025 13:20

aww these are all so helpful thank you! I thought I was have a tiny something by now haha!

Totally normal. Alot people who appear to form bumps really early are usually bloated. I seemed to show really early but honestly the pregnancy made me so bloated at the beginning it made my "bump" look bigger than it was, I dont think my true bump formed until well after 20 weeks

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/08/2025 13:30

There are pictures of me with a tiny little bump at 23w with DD1. I definitely had nothing at 16w.

With DD2, I had a noticeable bump when laying down at 12w. Full blown proper bump by 20w.

Had to wear baggy tops and jumpers for weeks before I announced DS at 12w. At 25w, my bump was bigger than my 37w bump with DD1…

Never had a bump.. I put on weight all over which kind of evened it out.
went into local shops with pram and baby about a week after having dc and was told more than once ‘I didn’t realise you were pregnant’

Moosey898 · 14/08/2025 14:05

I'm 19 weeks now and no bump to show for it! Only a bit first thing in the morning whilst I'm still lying in bed but I just look tubby 😂

frazzledbutcalm · 14/08/2025 14:14

As others have said, didn’t have any bump until 20+ weeks. I was desperate to have a lovely bump so I could wear dungarees 😆😆

SlenderRations · 14/08/2025 14:23

First baby I could still wear all my normal clothes at 29 weeks. Second, I’m not sure the stick was dry before the bump arrived 😀

justasking111 · 14/08/2025 14:27

Second baby totally unexpected. I have pcos so could go six months without a period. No bump, I was slim . My BIL noticed something and asked if I was pregnant apparently my bum hips had altered. Went to GP, had ultrasound, 20 weeks 🙈

TTCupdates · 14/08/2025 15:00

These comments are all so reassuring! It’s my first pregnancy so it’s all very new, but I will be patient for the bump haha :)

Another one that didn't have a bump until gone 20 weeks! I went to my 20 week scan in my normal jeans 😂

By 30 weeks I felt massive!

PocketSand · 14/08/2025 16:04

I’m just wondering if you have a ‘normally’ aligned uterus? I only found out I had a retroverted uterus when a medical professional mentioned it in passing. But it is associated with a small bump throughout pregnancy (and horrendous heartburn). F

I was told at 8 weeks I had a retroverted uterus! (Went for an early scan). But at my last 2 scans I don’t know if it’s still retroverted or not! Good point though..

@TTCupdates I think if it is retroverted it will stay that way! Just that the staff didn’t mention it. They often don’t.

AuntieHistamine · 14/08/2025 17:29

I didn’t show with my first at all until about 25 weeks. Even then it was a tiny bump. I was really paranoid about it especially as I was pregnant at the same time as a few other women I know and they all had proper bumps! My baby was perfectly healthy and normal sized when he was born so try not to worry!

WaltzingWaters · 14/08/2025 17:32

Completely normal with your first. With my first my bump came later, with my second pregnancy it came incredibly early!

K2012 · 14/08/2025 18:09

@TTCupdates completely normal. I don’t remember when I started showing the first time but the second time I remember I said to the midwife at the 16 week appointment that I still don’t have a bump and I was worried and she said don’t worry it’ll come soon and it did around week 20.

TTCupdates · 14/08/2025 19:34

Thanks so much everyone, all the comments have been so reassuring. Sounds like it’s extremely common so I will stop stressing 😂
