I didn't feel proper kicks until around 25 weeks.

I have a posterior placenta and am quite petite so everything I read said I would feel them sooner, and I was really worried when I didn't. It was all fine though 🙂

At about 22 weeks. I had an anterior placenta which I was told can cause a delay in feeling kicks. However, once I started feeling her kick she never stopped and was happily kicking and wriggling away right up until she arrived, which was very reassuring.

I’m 18w tomorrow and still haven’t felt anything. Think it can be anytime between 16-24 weeks

Coffeebeforechaos · 13/08/2025 22:24

Do you know where your placenta is positioned? I feel like I started feeling noticeable movement around 18 weeks but that was just like little taps. Proper kicks was probably 25+ weeks, but I had an anterior placenta and alot of my movement was cushioned so I didn't get to feel a whole lot of movement throughout my pregnancy unfortunately

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 13/08/2025 22:25

16 weeks ish, I felt a popping sensation.

It’s a bit like having wind 🙈😂

hoohaal · 13/08/2025 22:28

I think maybe 20ish weeks

Mexicansky · 13/08/2025 22:35

Is it your first baby? I couldn’t feel anything til past my 20 weeks scan with my first. I felt the other two earlier but I think that’s because I knew what the feeling was if that makes sense.

Kaybee1989 · 14/08/2025 01:25

At 20 weeks I noticed the first kick, it was as if someone poked me from the inside out! I probably felt them beforehand but didn’t realize. I had a posterior placenta, and am a ‘normal’ weight, but baby was very active the whole pregnancy and that was the first time I noticed her booting around in there 💕

LER2023 · 14/08/2025 06:22

I felt flutters around 18 - 19 weeks but nothing strong a couple of rolls like your on a roller coaster and your stomach feels as though its turning, but that werent often, they started properly around 24 weeks for me!

MuddyMoments · 14/08/2025 08:47

With baby no.1 it was after my 20 week scan. I am on the bigger side but I remember in the scan he was moving and wriggling on the screen and I couldn’t feel a thing!
I’m now 26 weeks with baby no.2 I did feel little flutters earlier this time round, maybe around 17 weeks (poss earlier) like my stomach was doing a flip or as someone else said that feeling of it dropping when on a roller coaster. I’m getting much stronger more consistent feelings now like a prod or a kick.
My placenta has never been anterior. It was posterior with baby 1 and it’s fundal (positioned at the top) with this baby.

littlepeanutlove · 14/08/2025 11:02

I felt them around 23 weeks with my first and 21 weeks with my second. You'll feel them soon, its still early :) Its my favourite feeling ever!!

Baby26 · 14/08/2025 11:06

My DH was able to feel the kicks for the first time with his hand on my belly at 17 weeks. I remember distinctly as we were off work with Covid (weren't unwell but it was the time when you had to isolate!). It all depends on where your placenta is though doesn't it - some mothers feel later

ChristmasMiracleBaby · 14/08/2025 12:17

Second baby, I had small movements and rolls from 12-13 weeks but very subtle and random. My placenta is posterior so that's probably why I've felt some movements early.

They reduced around 16 weeks but came back with a vengeance around 19 weeks. I'm now 20 weeks and feeling proper kicks throughout the day. 😊

Are u slim? I’ve heard it’s more likely to feel them if there’s less padding around ur tummy. I was size 6-8 and small too at 5ft1. For me it was 16 wks with DD1 for flutters. Kicks around 17-18wks and u cld see the kicks on outside about 19wks. DD2 I felt the flutters at 11wks and u cld see my tummy moving at 13wks!

FigPig · 14/08/2025 14:53

First baby. I’m generally slim, and have always been slimmest on my tummy. I think as a PP said, this can make a difference. I’ve been feeling movements from 17 weeks and my partner could feel them at 18 on the dot.
