I have had on and off spotting for the last 5 days and have no midwife yet as she is unavailable till mid June.
I spoke to the doctor and have been reffered to the early pregnancy unit to have a scan.
I thought they would just say "spotting is very common so there's nothing to worry about". Wasn't expecting to be sent for a scan.
I have endometriosis and wonder if thats why they are playing safe?
Can a heartbeat be picked up at this early stage?(about 6 weeks).
Really nervous now could do with a hug.

Aw, sweetheart - yes, spotting's very common in the early weeks - some women have some bleeding right through pregnancy and have healthy babies.

You can see a heartbeat this early - I saw DS1's at 6+6 (and I had a bleed with him at 10 weeks, which was scary but all was well - I also had endometriosis).

Really hope it goes well for you tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

((((((hugs)))))))). I had a lot of bleeding up until about eight weeks when I was pregnant with DS - spotting is very common so they are just playing safe.

It's nervewrecking isn't it. Spotting is common for some women, it sometimes means that there is a problem, sometimes not. The best way of finding out is by having a scan.

6 weeks is the earliest a heartbeat can be seen, so if your dates are out by just a day or so and you are slightly less then 6 weeks, then it's possible that a heartbeat might not be seen.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

nobodysfool am sorry you've had spotting, it is such a worry!

if it helps I had early scans with dd1 (previsou mc) and they were wonderful and yes they could see the heartbeat at 6wks

have also bled heavily from 12wks - 20wks with this pg and am still here just waiting for baby now

please don't be worrying at this stage, we'll all be keeping our fingers crossed for you

Thanks all so much for your kind words.
You would think as this is my second dc i would not worry so much-well, i didn't worry about the spotting as i had heavy bleeding the first time round but they have made me worry.
Hope they can find a heartbeat in the morning.
Why oh why can't things be easy?
Thanks all so much it really makes a difference to know people are out there who worried about the same things.

I spotted too at 7 weeks and was scanned. Try not to worry, lots of ladies spot.x

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 16:03

I don't think you ever stop worrying its part and parcel of it all

lackaDAISYcal · 29/05/2008 16:06

sorry to hear you have been spotting nf

I had spotting at 5+ weeks with DD and had a scan that dated me at 6+3 and we saw a HB.

I had an early scan with this pregnancy as well and was dated 6 weeks bang on and there was barely even a foetal pole which worried me, but I'm now 17 weeks and all is well.

Fingers crosses for you and I hope you can see a HB, but trry not to worry too much if you can't yet.

hunkermunker · 30/05/2008 08:51

NF, hope your scan goes well today.

serendippity · 30/05/2008 09:41

Hope your scan goes well NF, i had bleeding at 10 weeks and had a scan. All was ok, am now 14 weeks.
Good luck.

nobodysfool · 30/05/2008 16:39

Had the scan and they said everything looked as it should at this stage.
I am only 5 weeks pg so there was no proper sign of the baby yet apart from the sac.I'm going back for another scan in 3 weeks so hopefully we will see much more then.
They said the spotting was fine as everything seemed to be going well.
Thanks again for all the support last night you are all wonderful ladies.
