Mattress VOCs and pregnancy

Hi everyone,

I ordered a new mattress a few weeks ago which was delivered today, but in the interim have found out that we are expecting (suprise) DC2 . The mattress smells really strongly of chemicals, and I'm worried about the effects this might have, as I'm very early on in my first trimester. There are so many articles online pointing out how awful mattress VOCs are, and how pregnant women need to be careful. Scaremongering, or something to really consider? Thanks in advance!

Just let it air out in another room for a bit before using 👍

Unfortunately, they picked up our old mattress at the time of delivering 🤦🏼‍♀️ me and DD are going to stay with my parents tonight as DH is away anyway, and hopefully it'll be better after 36 hrs 🤞🏼 thanks for your reply!

Will be absolutely fine. You're meant to let the new mattress breathe for around 24 - 48 hours anyway. So really you've done the right thing staying with your parents😊
