Advice on period after a miscarriage

I had a miscarriage at the end of June beginning of July (baby measuring 11.2weeks). BFN and scan confirmed miscarriage has completed.

I bled for 2 weeks then stopped and then I had my period 32 days after the miscarriage started. The period itself was my normal flow but I had none of my usual symptoms.

However 7 days after my period stopped I’ve started spotting again and I feel like my period is coming. I have backache and cramps. I want to eat everything in sight and have no energy. I can’t look at my husband without him annoying me. I’ve been spotting on and off for 3 days now with it getting worse each day. But surely it can’t be normal to have my period again so soon?

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I have a GP appointment but it’s weeks away and I’m just anxious.

I’ve had other miscarriages but my period has always been clockwork afterwards with no issues.

I experienced similar for 2 months following a miscarriage at the start of June. I bled 2 weeks after the miscarriage but looking back I think this was just part of the miscarriage. I had a period exactly 1 month after the miscarriage, it was 4 days and normal but I didn’t ovulate that month until day 23 then had a period again day 28. During this I also had intermittent bleeding. My second period at the start of August was heavier than usual, 6 days and then I experienced spotting 5 days after that but I have this month ovulated on time which is encouraging things are getting back to normal. Be patient, it’ll take a few cycles to level out, you need the right progesterone and oestrogen levels to bleed and ovulate as you should,

just be prepared when out and about, I kept spare clothes in the car just in case and if you can try tracking ovulation to get an idea of if things are normal again. I also started taking maca root (red black and yellow combined) b6 and a good multivitamin with folic acid, according to chat Gpt they all aid in your cycles returning to normal

So sorry to hear you are going through this.

My cycle was all over the place. Mine was ectopic so maybe slightly different but I bled for 3 weeks straight followed by a week off and then a period like bleed. Then another week off then a shorter lighter bleed.

My first ‘proper’ period a month later was awful too. I think it takes your body a long time to get back to normal again. Make sure you look after yourself.

My second miscarriage absolutely did me in, it was horrible. For 6 months i was coming on my period every 2 weeks.
So i believe my cycle was 21 days (if i recall correctly), i couldnt do anything and was coming on like clock work week 1 id have my period, week 2 and 3 off, then id have another period.
I got pregnant somehow inbetween the 21 day cycle it ended in another miscarriage and my periods went back to normal, 28 - 30 day cycles after my 3rd miscarriage.
Sometimes your cycles can be messed up after a miscarriage, its just your body trying to get back to normal.

Thanks guys. I think I just need to give myself a bit more time for everything to settle and return to normal.

Miscarriages are just so hard and lonely
